Muffler Mod - Get an X-Pipe too? Which?
Looking at getting the Muffler Mod done on my Z06 and was wondering if I should look into an X-pipe as well. I am mostly interested in making the car a bit louder and meaner as I think it can be somewhat quiet in its current setup (even in 'Wild' mode).
I was thinking of going to a ZR1 or 2011+ Z06 X-Pipe to keep with the factory parts, but open to other options if they're better.
Does the X-Pipe make the car any louder? I heard it 'smoothens' out the exhaust, but not sure what the impact is on overall volume or tone.
Or should I just save my money and stick with the H-Pipe?
EDIT: I've been reading in some cases the X-Pipe makes the car quieter... hmmm, just food for thought.

Look at the magnaflow tru-x, its a 1 foot piece you weld in where your h currently is. Saves a bunch of money since it costs about 80-90 to bucks. From what I've heard an x pipe makes it a bit louder but higher pitched.

The link I posted below is what I will be buying soon after my muffler mod is done this week, I heard the X-pipe might make it quieter but also creates more "pops" on deceleration
No sense in wasting your money on a ZR1 X-pipe or new Z06 X-pipe

If you want to make it louder why would you buy any X-pipe? Here is a quote directly from that website:
"The results are a significant increase in power and torque but a reduction in dB sound levels."

So is everyone here suggesting that an X-pipe will actually quiet the car down?

I had read that the 2011+ Z06 used a revised X-Pipe which helped increased volume and adjusted the tone slightly. I believe this was mentioned in some Corvette gathering with GM discussing the exhaust changes for that model year. I know they did some other changes to the exhaust, but that was one of the benefits they had mentioned specific to the X-Pipe.

I would like to add an xpipe, its an easy diy mod. The muffler mod is essential as well. Im very happy with the way my car sounds with the muffler mod/h-pipe, but Id like to hear it with an x-pipe.

That would be great, thank you! I am very interested in hearing how it sounds when you're done!

You should get the one that comes with a set of ARH 1 7/8th headers.

I have the muffler mod and the ZR1 X pipe and it sounds good - much better than stick - but even with the fuse pulled I still feel like the car is too quiet.
