Halltech Carbon ZR1 style Roof and Pillar
Our ZR1 roof and pillar molds are finished, and our first prototypes will be out next week. Pictures then. To get an idea of the finish. Check out the pictures of the Full Carbon GT2 below, also on sale.
We do not have pricing yet, but the factory ZR1 Roof and Pillar are priced at $6000+, which is why no one buys them. I think that is why GM priced them so high. We expect both to cost much less than factory pricing, obviously.
The molds are super expensive, but the parts will be super glossy pre-preg carbon fiber and will feature lightweight honeycomb to strengthen the parts. This is not used in the factory parts.
The weights will be lighter than stock ZR1 carbon fiber, but just as strong. We expect a total of 12.5 lbs lighter than the Z06 roof and pillar combo, and 1.5 to 2 lbs lighter than the ZR1 counterparts.
Our GT2 hoods are onsale through December 25th for:
$2795.00 Inner: All preg clear. Outer: choice of all black primer OR center with clear primer, black primer panels on sides. It would look like this when finished:
$3349.00 Inner: All preg, clear Outer: all preg, no primer (This is one with the glossy outer and inner:
ALL GT2 HOODS COME WITH THIS INSIDE CLEAR PRE-PREG.
We also have one of the clear centers for $2599.00 that has a minor clear center resin pooling. We can send a picture, but it would likely not be noticed by anyone except us. That area would be paintable to cover it leaving the center clear carbon.
It would look like this when painted:
We have one in stock perfect -- clear primer center outer, preg inner ($2795)
Shipping is around $175.00 plus $75 boxing and pallet. Shipping costs vary with location. email me for exact shipping to your area.
Pricing on our ZR1 style roof and pillars will be next week. The replacement of your roof should be done by an authorized GM dealer. We paid $400 for our top and pillar replacement. The stock roof will likely be destroyed during its removal. So think about this as a permanent carbon fiber roof/pillar operation before you get too excited.

The Triple Threat Combo-Total Weight Savings of 60 lbs!!!!
The Halltech GT2 hood/Halltech ZR1 style roof/pillar/Katech Carbon fiber rear deck/Lexan window combo is a weight saving of 60 lbs!
What is more important is -60 lbs from shoulder height up lowers the center of gravity and improves handling and acceleration without touching the motor. The GT2 hood lower water temps significantly for racing and improves front downforce at plus 60 mph. At 180 mph and above, downforce is critical in keeping the nose of the car planted.
The Katech Aero package is then the ultimate improvement beyond the triple threat combo above.

Jim, any thought to selling the roof with a new frame installed so folks don't have to visit the dealer for this? Personally I'd much rather pay more for a bolt on roof than risk having my dealer reglue it (not to mention labor rates are probably much higher where I live).
BTW, how are you finishing the inside of the roof? As you know I'm running without a headliner.

We have one roof (my old one) that we have delaminated, and it was on pretty well. The amount of adhesive used is also a question.
Our closest GM dealer relaminated our top on the 2006 we had years ago, and may be able to do these for us professionally, but it would have to be exchange only since the mag frames are not sold separately by GM.
I will get the lowdown Monday. The pillar requires a stick on rubber seal between the Katech Lexan/Carbon deck lid, so we'll have that part with the kit too.

Pricing will be $1999.99 plus shipping. Release date pending R&D. We want to get the full instructions together on bonding carbon fiber to magnesium from GM. Also the bonding material used by them, will be made available for purchase.
