Noobie question, how do I tell if I have the auto or manual dimming mirror?

2007 z06...rear view has compas and mirror button, when I press the mirror button a green light comes on and stays on or off...

Need to know because I want to order the escort radar detector.

You have the auto dimming mirror. The green light turns the dimming feature on and off. It's described on page 2-38 in my '09 manual.

While many use the R/R mirror detector mounts, I didn't, and got a mount that tuck's high to the drivers visor screw clip. These mirrors aren't cheap($350 bucks), and the cam lock spring mounting doesn't like to be messed with. Something to keep in mind.

It sounds like you have the auto dimming mirror. This feature can be turned on and off. Which is the light you're seeing most likely. I hope this helps.

I got the Blendmount bracket for my ZO6 and the Valentine 1. Works like a charm once you get it installed. I did have a problem the first time but the trick is to push against the windshield to get it in back of the mirror.

I also have the Dashtronics projector which is wired into the On Board Diagnostics Plug.
