Default InsideLine pits the 2012 Z06 against the 2013 GT-R

Seems like it would have been more fair to compare it to the ZR1, but still a fun read...

Default NO the Z06 is the perfect fit

The Z06 was faster and they liked it better. Why in the heck would you say that the ZR1 is the better fit!!??

Great reviews for both cars. Z06 sounds so awesome down the straightaway. Marc L.

Only because the MSRP is closer, that's really it.

How's that?

The Z06 CE MSRP is just slightly more than the GTR. The ZR1 would be another $25k above the Z06 CE.

The Z06 is so capable, such a visceral blast, 75% the cost of the GT-R, and FASTER.

Did I mention FASTER?

Not much discussion to be had here.

Now GeorgeSSS go to a race track and have a drag race and let me know if you can tell which type of car it is up ahead in the distance.Make no mistake the 2012 ,2013 gtr is a very fast car.In fact in stock trim on stock tires ony a pdk porsche 911 tt will take it in a drag race!Dont be so quick to put that car down it is a very capable performer.

"Once known for its value compared to other supercars, the Nissan GT-R listed for $97,820 and with its only option Super Silver paint went out the door at a cool $100,820. The Z06 started out as a relative bargain at only $76,500, but by the time some $25,260 in options was checked off, the final total was a whopping $101,760."

The ZR1, similarly equipped, is like 120k and makes a ton more power. How is that more fair?

…but who in their right mind would buy a $100k Z06 (w/stickers on it)? ...ummm nevermind.

I have both cars, a 2012 GT-R and a Z06 (my second one). Love them both by the way!

I still wonder how they can say that the new cup tire is a fair comparison against the all weather tire that the GT-R has. I don't care what sort of magnetic ride suspension the new Z06 has, the tires are what makes the car even remotely close to the GT-R in my opinion. And for those vette guys that always think you are going to spank the Techno-mobile. Good luck on a drag race.. Unless you are Ranger I will spank you

Thank you sir, may I have another?

The GT-R looks like any other video game ricer. I won’t drive an ugly car, no matter how fast it is.

No denying it’s a potent machine though.

Looks are a subjective. My GT-R is actually my daily driver and it does a great overall job of balancing performance with comfort. Corvette owners are very territorial with their brand and I can appreciate that. However, I never limit myself to one type of car, I like the ability to try different things. I love the visceral feel of my Z06 and felt the same about my C5 Z06.

I may think your wife is ugly but you obviously felt otherwise.. Just saying..

You are correct that the 2013 GTR is a really fast car 0 to 60 and in the 1/4 mile.

Faster than the Z06 and the ZR 1 but these are sport cars not NHRA dragsters. All of the major auto mags have tested both cars at a variety of racetracks and the Z06 does very well. the extra weight of the GTR would kill it in a race of over 20 or so laps as tires and brakes would start to go away. The car is just too heavy.

Agree do people see the tread or should I say NO TREAD on those tires. Either way we are looking at a whopping .01 like it matters.

Go look at what car destroyed One Lap this Year or some of the times at Willow or VIR the GTR's are destructive! WHEN MODDED THAT'S WHEN THE BECOME TERRORS not bone stock!

Not too mention the ridiculous amount running mid 9's@150-160mph+ on drag radials these days while still being civil.

AND NO I'M NOT JEALOUS OF YOU AT ALL FOR OWNING BOTH! I'LL OWN BOTH ONE DAY MAYBE END OF THIS YEAR

I agree 100%

Many vette guys love their brand and would quickly ignore the competition. Not me, I'm a car guy first! If a car is fast, looks good and priced decent then I'm there, I don’t care who makes it.

I like the GT-R but not enough to buy one; however, I do respect its capabilities. And frankly, I don’t care who is driving the Z, if all being equal, no man will out-shift a machine/computer. A couple of years ago I had a chance to pick up a nice clean used GT-R and passed on it for my 2nd E60 M5.

Sure the GT-R will kill the M5, but I liked the styling of the bimmer better. You should the look I get from some Vette owners because I choose to daily drive an M5. Test drove a CTS-V back in the day, it was torquey but boring; it didn’t quite move or hit me like bimmer did.

Today, if given a choice between a brand new loaded Z06 and a ZR1 vs. a brand new loaded GT-R; I’ll take the GT-R. Yep, I said it! However, I would take a loaded PDK 997.2 911 TT or TTS over ALL of them.

Thanks,
Carlos
