600whp h/c z revised(long detailed post w/pics)
I made some changes to my setup. I liked the setup before but the headers were getting discolored and ugly and wondered if I was leaving any power on the table by not doing a 2" setup. I didn't want to lose any bottom end either from what I head so settled on a set of Kooks stepped headers.
I ran the Halltech MF107R filter setup as well. It had a vette air scoop and had a some surging on the highway. We tried tuning it out, but had no luck. I had the stock shroud replaced with a new one which stopped the surging, but I could feel a difference in power as well. Without the vette air scoop the intake was rubbing on the hood blanket as well. Monitoring IAT's showed it was getting heat soaked without the vette air scoop. I didn't want to run the vararam to block the radiator so settled on the Calloway which would give me the best of both worlds. Fit and finish is great as well.
I had modified the stock exhaust and did the muffler mod. It sounded good at idle and WOT, but everywhere else it didn't sound nice. Sounded tough, but raspy and "tinny" if that makes any sense. With the flaps closed it did not sound good either. Especially not like the 600whp car I wanted it to. I went back and forth on weather or not to get the Corsas or not. I love the way they sound, but wanted a way to tone them down. I saw Randy from Ragin' Racin had made a post about a new Fusion system for highly modified cars which incorporated a 3" flap to maximize output. I went ahead and ordered it, and had that installed also. On a side note, Randy pushed to get them to build this thing, but B&B was super slow in execution as it took me 3 months from the order date to receive it. If I wasn't so happy about the way the exhaust looked, sounded, and performed I'd be more pissed at this point. However, the fitment, quality, and performance is top notch. I'm super excited the way everything turned out.
While the car was getting work done I decided to relocate the coils, have the intake painted, and add Katech valve covers. The headers were coated at Jethot as well. I put some 20" 360 Forged wheels on as well. I ran polished stockers with generals before this so the weight of those was about 53lbs and change. The new wheels are 64lbs. I know this would cause some hp loss, but I don't drag race the car. It is a weekend cruiser that gets out 2-3 times a month. Big thanks goes out to Miranda built for getting the paintwork/valve covers/ headers installed and Redline for installing the new intake and muffler/tune setup.
The car is faster, and cleaner, and nicer sounding than before. I also added a 1000 watt stereo and ditched the bose setup. Even with the big 20's and cats it still is faster than with the stock wheels and tires despite adding 10lbs of weight at each rear corner.

The car previously made 607whp as seen below on a dynojet:
It made 591whp on a Mustang dyno about a month ago. Then the muffler and intake finally came in and had those installed by Howard @ Redline. It put out 600whp on his land and sea Dynomite dyno there as well. The car is so freaking quick now. Driving home had me peddling the throttle into 3rd gear. So much fun, I have a legitimate 600whp car regardless of dyne and I think I'm finally done. Below is the final graph and some other pics of the new setup as well as a video at idle:

Beautiful car. I see you added cats, that's probably killing 6-7 wheel hp or so. How did the cats do with the exhaust smell?
I've also heard some bad things about Howard Tanner from a few different New York guys. What is your opinion of his work ethics / attitude and shop?
EDIT: Not trying to downplay your car, just trying to inform. I found this today while looking at grand sport dynos.
There's no way a stock grand sport dynos at 421 wheel hp. They are shipped from the factory with 430 crank hp. 421 wheel hp is c6z territory. Either that car is a factory freak (not likely) or redline's dyno reads really high.

I agree 421 sounds a bit high what it is. However, I have probably seen about 5-10 dry sump grand sports manual trans models in the 400-410whp range. 421 would be a record of some sort.
I don't care if his dyno reads high or not, its had probably 20+pulls over 600whp on 4 different dynos. I'm not getting caught up in that. Lots of things can cause that variance. The car is fast, and I'm happy. The dyno is just to show change, and make sure the tune is safe.
Sound clip this week for sure.

Are the 2" headers worth the money? Noticeable difference?
Thanks as my car is apart and I am trying to decide as we speak.
Any input would be great.
PS. Shooting for over 600rwhp with a huge cam and high compression 13.8:1 WCCH Heads on e85 on my 447" RHS motor.
Thanks

Awesome results. I bet it is a pleasure to drive. Probly very little surge, no bad smells, and nice n quiet until the pedal drops. You have a put together a very powerful combination minus the vices most 600 rwhp cars have

Either way, im not trying to cause a pissing match here, i was just trying to inform. You have a beautiful car. As long as you are happy, thats all that matters.
Can you answer my other 2 questions though?

Would like to know about the kooks stepped as well.
On a side note, I am one of those guys that has a 400rwhp gs manual. With 851 miles on the clock it did 399.43. Going back to see what it's at now with the motor broken in.
Beautiful car and fantastic power you got! Well done
