Default So so worried about valve guide issue I sold my 2008 Z06

And bought a brand new 2013 Z06!!!!

These are amazing cars and we should be thanking GM in droves. My 2008 was perfect--25000 miles and the LS7 is awesome. The 'sky is falling' people should get on their knees and worship it....

Will try to post pictures. It is victory red and no options.

Curious to hear your comparison? What made you buy the same car over again other then the ride control options? Is it worth it?

i don't understand this decision from a $$ standpoint. I would take the money difference from selling/trading the old one and buying the new one and mod the **** out of the 2008 :-)

I had black and while it was great looking it was tough to keep up. The red is much easier. And yes as someone said---got a 5 year newer car and wasn't sure if I would like the C7. Doubt C7 will have a Z06 for a couple more years.

No big difference from the 2008 but wasn't expecting any. Oh also had a Corsa exhaust on the 2008. It droned somewhat on HW at 75 MPH even though many asserted the Corsa didn't drone. The new Z06 exhaust opens up at 3500 as before but sounds alot better than the 2008 at open position. Will not get another Corsa.

Just joking, no harm meant. However, I bet you do feel more comfortable with the new car warrantee. Did you by an extended warrantee?

I have 3 years to decide if get an extended warrenty. Probably will at least powertrain.

Also the arithmetic wasn't bad---$42K in trade and $67K for new.

I'm sure you will enjoy the car. I bought a 2009 that was out of warrantee (with less than 10,000 miles). However managed to get a GMPP warrantee for it and feel much better now. I got the warrantee before this problem showed up.

I've taken it one step further. I'm so worried of mine failing I refuse to trade it in or sell it to anyone. I wouldn't want someone else experiencing the loneliness of never visiting a GM service department...

Well -- I'm in the same exact boat. 2008 Z06, bought brand new.

about 22K miles on it right now. (been in storage for the past 2 years, getting back on the road in hopefully 3 months)

While the valve issue is worrisome for me -- and the straight fact *if* my engine blew after my warranty expires (in april I think) I'd literally be selling the shell of the car and getting screwed to the wall.

I've taken immaculate care of it -- and it's never been in the shop, not even for something minor. It's been the perfect car so far.

Once my warranty goes bye bye -- and since we can't expect GM to even give a solid procedure or VIN range on the issue, I have to decide if I want to spend 2500$ on an aftermarket warranty, or spend 2500$ and have my heads taken off, looked at, and upgraded.

At this point with what I've seen and read here on the forum, it's a total dice roll as to whether you LS7 blows up. Some have blown early, some have had it blow late. Some on the track, others cruising around town at 45mph.

I love my Z06 - and while I'm not expecting any freebies from GM, if they would have handled the situation a little faster and a little more concrete as to who's effected, and what to do about it, then I'd love to jump into a 2013 or get a C7 down the road.

I will continue to enjoy my C6Z06 as long as I can - but my confidence in GM has fallen to a level such that I can't see myself spending another $70,000 dollars on one. Of course if I won the lottery and had money falling out my @ss I wouldn't care if i went through LS7's like candy.

I would probably do the same, if they had Atomic Orange.

Do the new ones "buck" going at creeping speed like my 2006? It's not really lugging, because it's still around 1000 rpm or so...but in bumper to bumper traffic, it's not as easy to maintain the slowest speed possible without having to keep clutching. It was much easier creeping along in my C5Z....I think it's because of the higher torque + transmission, and I'm wondering if that's still the case.
Thanks, and a big CONGRATULATIONS on your new car!
