Old vs new style (2012) seats?
Im doing some up grades to the interior and am torn between the two seat styles.Im either going to get black leather seat skins with the middle part suede and red stitching for my stock 06z seats or change the foam and to the 2012 style seats also black with suede middle and red stitching (basically centennial seats). I can get the seat skins for my stock seats and the skins with foam (2012 style) for basically the same price so just comes down to style. Obviously the 2012 style is updated and i guess alittle more supportive? Its a nice design but idk if it looks alittle bulky and more at home in a cadillac. The stock seats are thinner, less supportive, and more stream line but kinda seem to fit the car better and look more business? Still torn between the two

I didn't realize that the seats had changed... Do you have pics to help us visualize? I personally love the look of the stock seats especially if you got the "Z06" embroidered in the headrests

my stock seat style i would do in all black/suede center/red stitching /red z06 logo on headrest
or the centennial seats (2012) same as i would do except i would add red z06 to headrest

If you do the centennial, you can get the suede inserts as well, which adds the much needed grip for cornering. I think it's much worth it

I'd go with the '12 style.

In all of the threads I read "converting" the seats with the kit turn out IMHO poorly. There are almost inevitably wrinkles, I have yet to see any that looks as smooth as factory OEM 2012 quality.
That being said, the seats ARE worth upgrading however I would spend my $1200+ on actual aftermarket units
Regardless, good luck with the project if and when you move forward

I'm thinking along the same lines. Would love to go with an APSIS or Cararvaggio seat but not sure that I can justify the price. I find my stock 08 seats reasonable confortable but they're not nearly supportive enough for performance driving, constantly fighting to stay planted in the seat. Short of going to a race seat, I'm also considering the 2012 upgrade with alcantara suede inserts as a more cost effective option to improve comfort and support.

Maybe this would work to smooth out seats doing the 2012 conversion upgrade to older seat design.

For track driving I would consider an aftermarket race seat over either OEM style. And a five point harness (which, by itself, will not do much to keep you planted laterally in an OEM seat... at least in my C4 experience).
