Practice practice practice. You will get all kinds of advice on what where when how to on 1/4 mile driving. On street tires it will be super hard to do a good 60 ft. That being said on my z with 530 to the wheels at that time all I could do is 1.89 60 foot and ran a 11.00 flat. Then with a drag radial on a 18x10.5 tire rim combo I did a 1.79 and went 10.79 @131.59. I tried so many different ways to launch, I tried this and that. It is not easy on the six speed.
Best advise, and easiest advise, get a 18x10.5 rim get a drag radial and go have some fun. I bet you if you ask 10 different people how to take it down the track you will get 10 different answers. Best thing for me was a shift light, a drag radial and lets gooooooooooooooooo.
Car puts down 550 to the wheels now and I am in the 10s. MGW shifter also helped me out.
Go drive your car and have fun with it.

These cars are NOT easy to get down a track in a fast time, REGARDLESS of what car you previously raced.
I raced Mustangs in my 20's and had the C5Z bolt on record for 3+ yrs. prior to getting my 1st C6Z. My 1st two passes were 12.2 & 12.1.....See what I mean?
I practiced and practiced at rentals. That's the only way you will improve greatly and quickly. That's how I got to where I am today.
There are MANY factors to a good 1/4 mile time. We'd need to know the DA, track prep & conditions, rear & front tire psi, launch rpm, clutch release technique, shift points, shift speeds, what were the tires doing on the shifts as well as the launch, what were the clutch and throttle pedals doing, burnout technique, etc, etc. In other words you need someone watching to give feedback and read some data logs to really see what you and the car were doing. You'll be surprised what the logs reveal.
Good luck and get back out there!

PS-my stock car in the summer runs .6+ slower in the 1/4 mile!

Bought car with 4223 miles. The second day I owned it I took it to a speed shop to replace the exhaust valves. I sleep better at night now. Then did a KN cai, with a tune car went to 489rwhp. Then did a speed inc custom cam, car dynod at 533. Then did ported fast 102 with a fast TB, and changed from a KN to a snake charmer. The car dynod 550 to the wheels. I am doing american racing headers and a retune tue. I will post what numbers I get then. Best pass was a 10.79@131.59 I drive my car everyday and practice launching all the time. I am also on a stock clutch. Sat I am going to Byron raceway to practice some more.

I think alot has to do with your tires.....
I had the stock good years lastyear and 1st was useless and 2 nd sometimes also.... But now with the michelin ss 1 st and 2 nd gear the tires stick. They just hook!! No gimmicks..... Im sure u might need practise but id reccomend the super sport tires.... They transform the car ....really give it the grip the cat needs ... Remember the cars got 500hp , so u want to make sure the tires grip so that yr not sliding like your on ice!

You should be launching at 3800-4200 and riding the clutch out as much as it will allow. It took me about ten passes to get into the low 11's on drag radials. Best is 11.03 @129.7 on a stock Z06 with a tune. Keep practicing and you shouldn't hot lap it or your clutch won't cooperate. Hit your shifts and practice shifting in your driveway with car off.

If your shifting at 7K you are most likely hitting the rev limiter and dont even know it since you are off the throttle.
I dont know if you track your car or not but for me taking the rev's to 7K would lower my trap by almost 2mph. As soon as I started my shifts earlier they came right up.

I tested shift points when my car was stock. if I shifted at 6700 I picked up 2mph and lost mph at 7k. also logging with hp tuners when you push the clutch in to shift the motor will keep sinning up to around 7300 shifting at 7k. I would have never known this without logging my runs
I wish I was using a logger. It took me many runs of me scratching my head and a lot of cursing to figure it out.
How about modded? I will be soon... Shift points change again?

+1400 DA.
Correct to 11.875 @ 123.31 MPH
Pretty much average for an average driver without drags on a stock Z. Keep at it. Get a drag setup. You can do better.
You're not worrying about the light on the tree are you? The clock wont start until you leave the line. Set yourself up nice and don't worry about the green. Take your time. Just make sure you don't leave before the green or it won't record your time. Reaction time means nothing if you're just testing.

Yes, I've been shifting at 7k give or take few hundred rpm. rev lim is now set at 7500 I was able to get more mph out of it shifting higher now with my mods.

It will be interesting to see how that stock clutch holds up.

St Louis elevation is 535 ft. The Nitto NT05's are better than the InVO's I thought.I know now that hammering the throttle and coming too fast off the clutch hurt my 60ft times now. Hard not to do that. It's my first time racing with a 6speed Automatics are EASY. No comparison. Also had the car in Competitive Driving mode.
In a C6 Corvette you want to be in Traction System Off mode.
Not sure what difference that would have made.

DA isn't always equal to actual elevation.
Where I run here in Germany, the physical elevation is about 1200ft, but DAs are almost always ~2500 ft during race season.
If you get the DragTimes smart phone app, there is a hasty DA calculator based on your phone location and local reported weather factors. It's probably accurate with a few hundred feet of DA, which is enough for a couple bucks.

Thanks for all the input. This forum has been very informative. I would like to get a logger (that will help me with launching and shifting). Where should I buy one? I may go at least once more with the tires I have to see if I can do better with my current setup. Would a linelok help with the clutch issues? May try bracket racing it to get more passes 3 + 1 (at least if I don't get knocked out first round).

The logger is ok but you just need more seat time. Get yourself a pbox if anything and practice your launches and traps on a private road.
A line lock won't help you or the clutch.
Seek out a private track rental. This will help you get more runs in.
