Default Valve Guide Nonsense

First---I estimate 28000 C6 Z06s have been made. 1% of this is 280 and I doubt even that many have failed due to valve guide 'problem'

Second---the liberal media would love to harp on this issue but NOTHING has been written outside these forums.

Third --this is a super high performance engine and we should be so grateful the LS7 even exists. Jimman and others have nearly 200K on the engine. I am disgusted with these idiot comments about class action suits and the like.

Finally ---- how many of you 'sky is falling' and 'tin foil hat' people
have at least a 4 year degree in mathematics, statistics, physics or engineering? You need these skills to determine if there is indeed a problem...

This thread has some serious potential for breaking 100,000 hits.

Seriously? Ok smart guy. Lol. Do 2 engineering degrees + physically handling the valves in 5 local LS7s count?

5 for 5 have had excessive wiggle. 2 have/are being replaced by GM. 2 have/are being replaced by yours truly. I have the skinned fingers to prove it.

Come on man!

1. Failure is not an option
2. Liberal media could give 2 ***** about a gas guzzler, environment ruining, rich guys toy.
3. Right. See #2 about your disgust. No one cares.

I do not think that 505HP from 7 liters is all that high performance, but it is a nice motor. The 4.3 486HP motor in my F430 on the other hand is highly stressed, but has proven to hold up rather well over time.

As to what percent of the LS7s have failed, I do not know, but there is enough evidence, that as an owner I should not just ignore the issue ..........Steve

It's threads like these, that made me do what I just did about 5 minutes ago, and hope others do.

I've sent a request to a moderator to have all threads like this merged into one and made a sticky thread at the top of the page...

a sandbox per say for people who keep wanting to debate this issue over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over

the 1000000 threads we already have on the SAME subject.

The sticky would also be a resource for new comers to this section so they could go do their own research and make decisions if they want to do something. ..vs starting yet ANOTHER valve guide related thread.

3. Right. See #2 about your disgust. No one cares.
Right there with you. 100% of the ones I've seen tested have failed. Seen 3 drop valves out of the 5 or so friends I know with z06s.

And yes I have a 4 year engineering degree, math degree, six sigma certification and use statistics daily at my job.

Tracked? Modified?

For someone who does statistics daily you should agree that this is more hype than reality at this point. Your perceived reality being close to failures hardly makes this an epidemic. Same for Chad. Very easy for him to become Henny Penny. All he sees is problems. Its easy to think everyone has them if all you see is problems every day.

and yes I have a degree in Mathematics from MIT.

BTW merge all these threads. There is no reason to infect the entire forum with this BS.

What would you think about "highly stressed" to find that the maximum piston speeds in a LS7 are higher than in a F430?

Max piston speed in a f430 are ~ 7095 feet per minute
Max piston speed in a LS7 are ~ 7327 feet per minute

Let me guess the OP has a C6 Z06

He knows there is a problem, but is just trying to convince himself into thinking, the problem doesn't exist, so maybe guide wear won't happen to him, using his mind powers

Dude you are beating a dead horse, even the most stubborn people, now acknowledge that there is a problem, and just have their heads redone, the above poster is correct, failure is not an option.
If you don't have a degree in automotive engineering , you can take all your degrees and use them as toilet paper, would you let an eye doctor perform brain surgery on you, or a brain surgeon ?, they both have degree's ..... Me ? I'd go with the person who is qualified, you are not qualified cause you know numbers, and formulas .

You wanna roll the dice or be safe? Or you can just park the car, not drive it and watch it depreciate .
Fix your car and enjoy it without worry(if you weren't worried you would not have made a post )

No year is safe, even some Zr1's are now showing up with wear, that was a surprise to me.

Posting on a forum is not going to make the problem go away, it has long been proven that the problem is in NO WAY "nonsense", there is a couple of posts on this forum every week about an LS7 blowing, and this is just a forum.
Not everybody who owns a Z06 is a member of the corvette forum.

How about a degree in Nuclear Technology! Is that technical enough for you? Sheesh.

Somewhere between the sky is falling and the problem doesn't exist is where the truth lies with this issue. And it IS an issue.

I am hoping more people will make the same request I did so we can get the forum back under reasonable control, meaning every other thread is not about the same subject.
