Default Anyone here make the switch from C6Z or C6 ZR1?

Damn, I put "or" instead of "to" in the subject line

I have often thought about the idea of making the switch. I have considered a new C7, but I am just not sold on that body yet. I don't want to modify my '09 Z. I am considering making a switch to a "used" C6 ZR1 if I can find a nice one locally here in Arizona.

I would if I could afford it. Just to expensive for me. A good friend of mine did, went form a 2009 Z06 to a 2010 ZR1, he love it.

I think I would rather do the conversion and mod the engine...

ZR1 is the top dog..it would be a no brainer..The "7" version is sure to be a Beast also..

What are you trying to gain with the switch? You'll get a more refined package with the ZR but if you're looking for more speed, I think you'll be disappointed.

.1 second 0-60 and .3 second difference in the quarter mile. Not a huge difference.

More weight, higher center of gravity, and furnace sitting of top of motor. The only time I'd prefer the ZR1 is if I were to use it as a pure street car.

There's plenty of guys on here who have...you may want to post your question in the C6ZR1 forum for feedback from those who have "traded up". For me, I wanted a piece of Corvette history that we may or may not see again...a naturally aspirated 427.

Those times are very misleading though. Take a look at the trap speed difference between a C6 Z and ZR1. Huge IMO. Of course the price difference is a major factor but still a big difference none the less. I think GM claims 1/4 trap speeds of 124 mph for Z06 vs 131 mph for the ZR1. Pretty big difference. Is that worth the extra $$$, some say yes, some say no. I'd love a ZR1 but for twice the cost of my 08Z, not worth it in the end. That being said, I'd love to have one lol.

This is a very debatable topic, I personally so no because I don't feel I would be able to tell that much difference between my Z and a ZR, but then again I have never driven a ZR because I can't warrant the extra $$$ it would take to get in a ZR. With that being said I have mods that I am planning on doing that will make it faster than a ZR in stock form. At the end of the day it's all about what you want out of the car.

I thought the Cg of the Zr 1 was lower than the Z06.
