Need good Mechanic in Miami, Fl.
any recommended mechanics that you trust working on your Z in miami, dont trust dealerships.. thinking about upgrade rotors or possible entire brake system. starting to track car more and more and brakes are the weak link with these cars. any help would be great for a mechanic or brake suggestions..

Breathless is good. But if he's installing parts other than his prepare for an earload! In the other hand pm me for a really good Corvette tech(ASE Cer, Lead Vette Tech for the dealer) at a local dealership in pembroke pines. He's the only one who has ever touched my 08 Z.

HORSEPOWER SALES in Pompano Beach
They did the install of my LS-7 and the F1A Procharger in my 05 A4 C6.
Roger/Jeremy will be more than happy to answer any of your questions.
They specialize in corvettes and usually have a waiting list to get in!!!

I guess its just me but I wouldn't take my car to either breathless or HP sales. One is way over-rated and charges for services as if they were lingenfelter and the other takes other companies parts and sells them as his own, lies to you about when your car will be done and just-right treat you like crap if you have any questions regarding their lack of customer service.
Good luck... I would try the guy at pompano... in miami, find a mechanic that you can trust and stick with him/her.
As for brake service, I can help you do that, its really not that involved. The hardest part is probably setting in the pads correctly to the rotors... its that easy.
What did you have in mind, parts wise? Just rotors and pads? Lines, complete brake upgrade?

Brake jobs are usually pretty easy. I'm sure you can find a write-up on how to do it, and if you take obzidian up on his offer, you should be able to save yourself a bunch of money and learn how to do it for future pad changes.
I am a big fan of working on my own car. Always have, always will. Everything bolts on, so I'm sure you can do it, even with simple hand tools and floor jacks.

I tried the Carbotech 1 piece pads last weekend, I was sharing the car a fried whose car was in the shop so it was like doing 2 events in 1 day . The carbotechs felt great but the fronts were gone in 1 day although the rears had enough meet for 2 more days
Will try Hawks this weekend to compare

Just curious, is Dave Walters still around? 20 years ago I used to take my vette to him. He was in the South Miami area. He even wrote for one of the the vette mags for a while. He was an expert on older vettes.

I use Brent at Performance Tech in Hallandale (north Miami) with great results. Honest and capable which is a tough combination to find. They also run the ALMS GT2 Viper out of there as well as Speed Challenge Vipers. Very good with Vettes too.
