Valve issues fixed in '13 427 verts?
I had a 2009 z06 and sold it out of fear of dropping a valve - did they fix the problems in the 2013 427 Verts?
How many of you would get a c6 427 vert vs a c7 stingray?

Look Dingo, Not everyone has time to read every thread. I am very well aware of issues in the past and I would assume so is Chevy... Hence the reason for the question. I was not considering another c6 at all but I'm not a huge fan of the C7's and have found a real good deal on a 2013 427 Vert special edition. No reason to be a a$$ with you assumptions/post!

No one knows. Wait 3-4 years and see or buy one, leave it stock and enjoy a warranty.
C7 is a much better option IMO.

He asks a question and gets an answer like this. Nice. Lots of thought put into that right there.
If there was a fix for the LS7, GM hasn't told anybody. If they did, they'd be setting themselves up for settlements all over the place. Word has it that there really is no difference in the later LS7 to the earlier ones. GM said it was a bad batch of castings from a certain supplier so that isolated the bad engines to a specific year but statistics show that even the later LS7's are popping. More mileage and time will confirm this.
My opinion to you're thought on a C6 427 Vs. a C7 would be to wait for the performance variant to come out in 2015. Personally, I decided that my C6 Z06 would be my last after seeing the C7 and then sold the Z.

THANKS! This is all I wanted - an update/opinion from a fellow vette brother/sister! Thanks again for the details and not just blowing me off!

Newer car. Both are going to have a warranty, so that's a wash, and it could come to pass that the hollow stemmed valves actually work out in the C7. They did in the C5 Z06.
So were it me, and I were choosing between those two, it would be the C7 Stingray.

I say that they have not addressed it. But then again I don't think there was ever a 427 vert that dropped a valve.

I highly doubt any of those old man car 427 verts would ever be driven hard enough to experience catastrophic failure; however there has been claims that they do experience the same valve guide wear just as any other LS7 in a C6 Z06.

I really hope GM does fix the issue. When you have cars lining up from 08 and up having the same issues happening constantly, one would think they should fix it...yet again its GM and their track record with decision making hasnt been the greatest....
I guess itll be a waiting game to see if the new 427s have the same issue.

The LT1 in the C7 has sodium filled exhaust valves running on powdered metal guides, so it should be okay
If it were me, I would not have sold the '09. But the C7 is interesting.
