Convince me not to buy a 911 Turbo....
So, I've had the ZO6 for almost 5 years and I think I'm getting the itch to move on. I've always been a 911 Turbo fan and now that I can get a used 2010 in the price range I'm willing to spend it's quite temping. I love PDK and AWD, and the refinement of a Porsche is untouchable. I'm just worried I may be spending $60k (after trade in or sale of my Z) for little change in performance and overall satisfaction.
My other thought was to just keep the ZO6 and maybe do an aero kit and wheels to make it feel new to me again....but how long would that feeling last.
I know this is a vette forum, but what do y'all think....esp previous owners of 911 Turbo's???

If your getting the itch for a turbo P car, go for it, get the car you really want this life is too short. That is if you can comfortably afford making the switch (if your going out on an economic limb then don't do it, and no doubt the C6 Z is a best bang for the buck for the supercar performance market).
If you can afford it and its the P Turbo that does high 10s in the 1/4 mile, which I am pretty certain the 2010 model is, then DO IT man, if that is the car that will make you happier than your C6 Z.
If I had a chance right now to trade my C6 Z for a 2008-2010 Viper ACR I would do it in a New York heartbeat, b/c I like the 2008-2010 Viper ACR better that my beloved Z (surprise, surprise).

Get the Turbo. Life is short.
When you are tired of it's awful engine sounds buy a ZR1 and call it a day

CodeBlue, is your ZO6 stock? Perhaps some engine mods to wake up the car and rekindle your go fast thirst?
FYI the 911 with the PDK is brutal fast! My friend sold his Gallardo and picked up a 911 Turbo w/ PDK. It is fast, however when he drove my ZO6 all he could say is WHOA, this thing is crazy fast! But then again my Z is highly modded... Like Jimmy said, if the 911 is what you are yearning for, and you can afford it, go for it!

Sold my Z to make the same move...absolute street monsters. Exhaust and tune = 80HP. 550WHP with boltons. PDK with launch control is nearly unbeatable. Great GT car as well.

Mopar Jimmy the viper is not the greatest car to drive believe me.911turbo pdk is the ultimate car .There is nothing out there to match it unless one chooses to spend huge money as in konigsegg agera or buggati veyron. The 911 turbo pdk runs tens all day has superb handling and braking and outstanding finishing. I say do it.For the record i drove a viper this week and i think its scrap next to my z06.Very tight seats the car wanders all over the road when the tirs are cold .Horrible gaz mileage.

If you want the 911 Turbo you should get it. I'm 41 years a die hard Corvette guy. It's not on my radar screen but I have a healthy respect for them. After driving a couple of them I think they are great cars. I like American V8's with lots of low end torque. I like the sound of an American V8. All of the 911's need to get much higher in the RPM band to feel exciting. Once that Turbo spools up it really goes. All of the 911's have great balance and handling. If you want it you need to get it and at least get it out of your system.

I have been tossing around the idea of getting a BMW M3 with the retractable hardtop convertible option or a 1969 big block c3. guess which way I am leaning?

No whining the first time you have to do maintenance on your P car!
I'm not a p car fan, I had one a number of years ago and it was the biggest pos I've ever had but might have just been a lemon.
Get what you want as life is very short. Any of us can be here today and gone tomorrow!

About $400 for a battery plus 1 hour of diagnostic time...do the math.
Here, the dealer wants $500 as soon as you pull into the service department (not really).
Porsche thinks very highly of themselves...the dealer charges $139.99 for a CTEK battery tender that has the Porsche name on it; the CTEK sells for $89 & change on this forum all day long.
Routine maintenance costs are outrageous and expect to have lots of repairs as the miles rack up.

I made the switch about 9 months ago, from a 06 Z06, to a 09 Carrera S Cab w/PDK.
These 2 cars are about as polar opposite as you can get, and offer completely different driving experiences.
Unless you're an accomplished drag racer, a Turbo w/PDK under launch control will smoke a Z06 in stoplight racing. Most guys can't hook up a Z, and the 4WD Turbo under launch stays hooked up until you lift, and the PDK shifts much faster than is humanly possible.
Overall quality, the Porsche hands down, as expected in a car that costs $50k more.
I prefer the Z for storage room, as big items such as golf clubs fit easier, although with that exception, I prefer the Porsche for a touring car.
Both cars do what they do very well. The Z likes to go straight, and the 911's like to turn.
If you can afford a Turbo, go for it

To dispel the rumors relative to maintenance costs, you can put a Walmart battery in a Porsche, and don't need half a roll of duct tape to get the dead battery out of it's grotto. Porsche also warrants the battery under the original factory warranty.
Oil changes are $200 at the dealer, 8.5 qts of synthetic and a filter. The interval is 20000 miles, so if you choose to go that long, it's not any more expensive. I can say from experience the Porsche DIY oil change is much easier than a Z.
Brake flush is recommended every 2 years, that's $200, too, at the dealer.
The competency of the service techs, at least from what I noticed, is not even close, so in my mind, that's worth more. If you're under warranty and need to leave the car, you get a free loaner. Last time I was at Porsche North Scottsdale, I got a Panamera to drive for a day. Ugly *** car IMHO, but it had an awesome interior and was fun to drive.
