[Z06] anyone? R888 vs PSS

anyone? R888 vs PSS
I need to replace my stock run craps and have it down to r888 or PSS
I dont care about what last longer or rain or noise etc. I just want a decent street tire that will get better straight line traction and still have decent turning ability. I dont track the car just want to have some traction for the street and one or two visaits to the drag strip. Anyone have experience with these two tires and how they compare?

I'm not sure Toyo has the r888 available in Z06 sizes for the rear. I think the widest they make is a 305 in 19. Rumor has it that a 325 and 345 are coming soon though.

Burning Brakes
They now make the 19" rears in the R888's.
Check out Phil's as they seem to have them in stock.

I think the PSS will be better for your usage. The R888s need some heat in them and you don't get that just putt putting around in town or on the highway. Like most R compound tires they will perform best when the tire temperature is in the 190 to 210 range and normal hard driving in summer will only get the tire temp up in the 130s. At the strip you could do a burn out to warm them up but you really don't want to roast them like a lot of people do as that would get them too hot. Drag tires are designed to grip at higher temps so can take more spinning at the burn out box.
The front tires also need a lot of negative camber (-2.5 to -3 degrees) if you are cornering hard. That can make the car more difficult to drive on the street as it will dart around on surface irregularities.

Thanks bill that is exactly the info I was looking for. It's settled pss it is. I've always had high poweredf-body's so tires were not on my radar until now. I absolutely love my zo6 it's awesome and a blast to drive. I still luv my turbo camaro for stupid power needs.

I agree with Bill, that I would not expect them to be a great street tire, without getting them warmed into their performance range.
