Default Results of my 09's heads and cam install.

I am posting the results from the work done on my 09-Cyber/Grey Z06 by Complete Street Performance located in West Chester, Pa. I picked the car up about a month ago and wanted to wait a little while to post to see if any “issues” came up. I am glad to report there have been none and the car runs even better than I expected. Andrew Zurick is the owner and the one who tuned my car and did a great job.

There were some delays with getting my heads back, I had to substitute some parts and some work had to be deleted due to time constraints. Basically, I wanted my car back. I took a bus from central Va on April 23, drove the car 5 ½ hrs. back home, got up the next morning and left with my wife and 5 couples from our Corvette club and drove 10 hrs to the NCM Bash in Bowling Green. Then on to Nashville for a few days and back home, about 1200 mile trip. Not exactly how I wanted to “test” all the work but the car performed flawlessly. The highway mileage even stayed close to the same, between 28 and 29 mpg. Can’t say the around town mileage was as good especially if I drove hard but no complaints.

Here are most of the build specs.
• Advanced Induction 100% CNC'd 280cc GM LS7 Cylinder Head Porting---bronze guides.
• Ferra—hollow core exhaust valves
• Manley Nextek .700" Dual Spring Kit w/ Ti Retainers, Hardened Locators, etc.
• Lunati Signature Pro-Series Linkbar Lifters
• Lunati “Vodo series” Camshaft---Duration--223in.—235ex. Lift--.615in---.626ex.
Ratio—1.700in.—1.700ex.
• LS7 Airdaid Intake System

• Uncoated Kooks headers and catted midpipes---We had intended to use Kooks Stepped Headers & Catted Midpipes with Coating but would have to wait an additional month.
Also intended to have the intake to TB ported but ran out of time on that too.
I have kept the stock exhaust, for now.

Andrew was shooting for 580 rwhp---540 rwtq and felt if we had the stepped headers and TB porting we would have been there. Ended up with 560rwhp---515rwtq and I am a very happy camper. The cam is smaller than some are using but I did not want many drivability issues and the torque curve is really strong. Andrew spent a long time in conversation with me about exactly how I drive the car and my expectations for the work his shop was going to do. Basically I drive the car pretty easy except for the 2 or 3 HPDE’s that I do per year. We also take a lot of weekend day trips and long (1000 miles or more) trips on vacation or visit family. I am very happy with the results and highly recommend his shop.

The only complaint that I have is those Lunati lifters are LOUD.

Thank you for the compliment, the car has 30,000 on it now. I purchased it 3 1/2 years ago with 2,700 miles on it. It is a 3LZ interior.

It was fast before now its just freaking nuts.

Andrew had not used this particular cam in a LS7 before but felt it would work well. I believe he is right given the torque curve and amazing response. The car has a very good sound with just enough lope to turn a gearhead around when you drive by.

Can't wait to get to VIR.

As and aside---to all you veterans, thank you for your service and God Bless America.

And you think this is a big cam????

A 1.8RR puts this cam at 0.663" lift with an insignificant effect on duration. I look at cams for the LS7 like this for hydraulic roller cams:

with a reasonable split (20* or less) and LSA at 112* or more and intake duration under 230* - puny
230* - 240* - small
240* - 250* - medium
250* - 260* - big
over 260* - huge!

Let's face it, a cam with 13* more intake and only 5* more exhaust duration over the factory LS7 cannot be considered a HUGE change!

I think you weren't paying attention to what the OP posted re rocker ratio. If you weren't, then that has now been corrected and my job here is done -- you can continue with your strawman and your disparaging terminology, both seem to be quite popular around here

That cam is fairly aggressive for a street ride. I was not aware the Lunati grinds had that much lift. It's comparable, almost, to the LSK lobes that LPE uses. I'd like to see lift at .006/.050/.100/.200, both sides of the lobe.

Very respectable numbers too. I would have guessed closer to 520 RWHP with 223 duration.

In my experience 240+ intake duration is not worth it. The loss of torque for a slightly higher peak number is just silly because the car is slower.

Heck, our normal grind that we use on the LS7 is a 231/239 and it makes 590 rwhp with these AI heads and ported intake manifold.

Just depends if you want to hang with the big boys...take a look at the fastest Z06's on the N/A internal bolt-on list.....those that will admit their cam size are all 240+*, case closed

Very nice results! I just bought a yellow 2008 Z06 and look forward to doing heads/ cam.
What size headers did you use and did the head work bump up the compression ratio? If you did bump up CR, what is it now 11.5 or 11.8 or similar?

I believe they are 1 7/8 inch headers and I can't answer the head question.

If Andrew is still monitoring the thread he may remember.

That is correct. The Kooks Z06 1-7/8" Headers with catted mids.
