Yes it happens on both.

Bad cam core, incorrect cam installation, bad lifters, incorrect oil weight, oil break down, excessive spring pressure, incorrect valve train setup.

Add: incorrect break-in procedure.

Mine doesn't look good. Haven't pulled the valve covers so I dunno what If anything has been done to the heads.

The lobes don't look scored or chewed up but they are definitely worn down where the lifter wheel rides.

My stock cam had scuffed/scored lobes and most of the lifters looked the same.

What are looking at? How can you see the cam lobes if you haven't even pulled the valve covers?

Jezzzuuss, you're ambitious! I take it you pulled the engine? Out the top or bottom?

Here are a couple pictures of my OEM cam's "soft lobes". The lifters looked good considering. I did replace all the lifters and rockers.

That is pretty much what mine looks like. I'll try to get a pic. And the motor is still in the car.

Now I'm really curious..... How about you provide some details instead of spoon feeding? Do you have a coil over set up, or did you pull the spring, or...??

Dropped subframe, pulled leaf spring. Takes surprisingly little effort. I have a 2 post lift at my house though.

Pulling intake manifold/valley plate also gives a good view of most of the cam and would be easier to check for most people.

How do you support the engine when you drop the cradle?

I have a "strut tower" engine support but i didn't think it would work on the vette. I have extremely tall jack stands holding it up currently. I think they go from 5'-8' or so. Same idea as using jack stands on the ground i guess, but with the added luxury of being able to stand under the car.
