[Z06] 1.27 60 ft - n/a with Katech Torquer 110 cam

Good runs
I can see the importance of the launch there in getting into the 9s. With a 6.2x 1/8th that makes the 9.9x very achievable given you final mph.

Yeah, when limited on power.... you gotta 60 ft your car. Those were 133 traps with those timeslips, but with some fine tuning I've done recently and a new launch technique, I believe 135-136 mph is what it would run today in the 1/4 mile. Which for a docile 220/244 @ .050 cam isn't bad at all. The Katech Torquer really is a nice small cam.

I'll add something.... I think our C6Z's suspension is absolutely perfect for drag racing. Our cars shouldn't be 60 footing this hard on a stock suspension, but they do.... Norm (Stanger383) ran low 1.2's in his auto converted Z and we know the experienced 6 speed guys are hitting 1.3's and 1.4's fairly easily.
The car just does a slight squat and goes and I have no carnage whatsoever.... my car now has somewhere around 100 1.3x or quicker 60 fts in the past few months without a hint of something breaking. I do have the C5Z axles, but other than that its 100% stock including the sway bars. On just a half decent track it'll repeat all day on this Hoosier Drag Radial.
I don't know why....I'm not a suspension guy, but I will say, the guys that I race with, some who have dedicated racecars are amazed at the 60 fts our cars are capable of. They ask me how it 60's so hard.... I shrug my shoulders. I don't know. Its a 427 in a fairly light car, so it should 60 ft well if its properly set-up, but 1.2's on a street set-up with stock gearing ? Pretty cool cars that we have.
My point ? Don't be afraid to take your car out drag racing.... you'll have a blast and once you figure out how to get it in motion, it'll fly.

I enjoy drag racing my Z06. Some say its not meant for it... there is no such thing. I also drag race my MB C63.
Great vid. Have you ever recorded your 60-130 times on a pbox?
Why are you short shifting anyhow?

No on the 60-130 mph times..... I wouldn't imagine they would be anything special, this is not really a high power car.
I have shifted the car at 7000 rpm before, there was no tangible difference in et, so I backed it down. Bear in mind, the Torquer cam is a wonderful low and mid-range power cam, but not so much for high rpm power.

We're the same.... I've even drag raced my daily drivers. Something is wrong with me.

Have you tried shifting at redline since the auto conversion? On the track where you could see the difference of course.

I have even taken my hauler down the 1/4. As well as my hauler and trailer with my car on it. There is nothing I wont point and shoot down the 1/4 mile.

I've tried everything at one time or another with this engine.... but I haven't pushed rpm in a while, nor with the present converter in the car. But, I will be pumping it up to 6800 rpm with a new camshaft that goes in over the xmas holiday, so with this cam it doesn't matter anymore.

Thanks V8sten. What was your name ? Bear in mind, I talked to a lot of people in the lanes.
I ran my 3 new best et's Friday night. Little disappointed I didn't get it into the 9.7's.... it was capable, just needed a cool motor and dead hook on the same pass..... which never happened.
Here is a pretty cool video taken by the track on Friday night.

Yes, I remember. I have had quite a few different cams in this engine. Great to meet you. I'll be making it back down to that track every now and then.
btw, my name is Todd.

Very nice good job very impressive...Hoosier 315 drag radials?? Auto trans are heavier then manual? hence the 3,300 ibs or is that with you in it? you lighten rotors ? seat remove? 2.2 to 60 mph crazy with what about 600rwp on a dynojet? 93 octane? that vid of the shifts is wild so fast and smooth..How did you do with the manual trans? anyway great job in maximizing the cars potential ..Im new z owner and like you I believe in the z...incredible value...You would smoke a 3.2 million dollar Veyron in the 1/4 .. maybe even up too 150
