Default Thoughts about Raised White Lettering on tires

I think raised white lettering looks great on a car. I dont believe any are available in a street tire. Anyone know of any or have pics of a Z06 with them?

Its ok on classic 60s and 70s muscle cars, but I actually prefer blackwall on those.

You could try it out on your C6Z-. I know guys that use to take white model paint and would paint in the raised letter outlines on the otherwise black tires. It did not last very long and would flake off, but at least you would get the idea.

Their not made for low profile tires. As stated above, o.k. for a 60-70's model vehicle.....NOT for a Z model Vette or any other late model anything.

But everyone has their own perspective...if you like it, then do it...don't think you can find any tires made for your car that will have them though.

This thread reminds me of of the one a while back asking for opinions on a photo-shopped roots style blower installed through the hood of a Z06. Just no...

There are only 2 companies I think that make raised white letter tires, and they come in limited sizes as well. BF Goodrich being one. I had this issue when looking for period correct type tires for my 67 Camaro.

Regardless, I agree they go on 60's muscle cars..But to each his own.

Ron

Absolutely no! To each their own of course...but IMO they only go with muscle cars, and then the BFG T/A is the go to tire choice. Ron's 67 Camaro looks fantastic!

I think true performance tires are not made with raised white letters or any kind of white rubber on them. If you look at the ones on some of the race cars seen at various types of events you will notice the letters are painted on and not formed by using white rubber laid on the side of the tire. Many moons ago I used to work in production control at a rubber factory and all of the white rubber compounds had less strength than black rubber compounds.

I wonder if part of the issue is the narrow sidewalls on 19" & 20" tires - it's hard to make white letters look good. The 15s on a C3 leave a lot of real estate to decorate those balloon tires, and (as in the case of that beauty Camaro above) can look really good with them.
