AC/Heater fan noise
My Z makes a bunch of noise out of the A/C vents when I have the Fan at full speed. Sounds like a small tornado. It gets less noisy when I put it in fresh air mode "Non recirculating" Am I the only one with this problem or is this just the way the car is?

Mine is very loud from medium to high fan speed. So much that when I first noticed it I thought something was wrong until I turned the fan down. I suspect its normal.

Well I can't believe it, but..... The motor bearings felt fine. Nothing in the blower housing, no contact marks. As usual you could get it apart to put a drop of oil on the bearings, but you wouldn't be able to use it again. I used Windex and the little brush to clean off the dust, ran some water, carefully, to get the Windex and loose dirt off, blew it dry, put it back in and it's QUIET. The spear goes into a hole on the firewall, pull down the carpet, three screws are 7/32 hex head, unplug motor before you try to drop it out.

I noticed mine makes a lot of noise as well; 2009 Z06. It's quite irritating to be honest. So the solution id to pull it out and clean it? It souns like its a VENT noise issue, not the fan though.

I agree. I'm not getting any motor noise, it's more like being in a big wind tunnel.

I'll tell you what I "think" it is. My GM pickup started doing the same thing. What I found was that the foam seals on the various doors in the A/C system ( the doors that regulate heat/cool and direction the air blows out) was falling off and no longer sealing tight. This would cause a air rushing sound. My pickup was out of warranty, so I had to pull the thing apart and fix it my self. Not for the faint of heart. Set the fan to high and check for air coming out of outlets that it shouldn't. I have not had a Vettes hvac box apart, so I have no advice. Only other thing I can think of is a bad actuator that is not closing a door all the way. The door responsible for recirculation/outside air would probably be the loudest.

So thanks for the directions. I found the location and found out that the cover plate to this filter was only half on and one of the clips that is supposed to hold it there is missing. Went to Autozone and they sold me an STP filter for it. So we all know how that goes......Get it home take out the old match it up to the new and it's a 1/4" narrower than the stock one. Don't fit good. So returned it and the dealer has a new OEM one waiting for me to go get in the morning. $36.96 plus tax with my discount. I hope this quiets things down. Below is the old one, I'll be checking this more often from now on.

That is pretty nasty. It definitely needed replaced either way. With the vehicles I have owned I've found it to work out pretty well to replace them every 20k unless you live in an area where there is excessive dust or construction.
