Default Who @ ATI?

Who have you been dealing with @ ATI? I have 2 Built LS7s going in their cars next week. Would like to find out if they are having issues now. I called yesterday. The guy said must be improper install.

I was a fluidamper person myself. This forum has swayed my customers into ATI requests over the years. The fluidamper can have balance issues if driven lightly. Nothing to wear out though,

I don't have the contact at ATI on who dealt with my failure, reported back to me as a heat treating issue. ATI replaced the SuperDamper and compensated CPR for re-install I believe. The first contact with ATI came back as they have had "a few failures".

By driven lightly are you stating typical daily driver cars that rarely see any aggressive rpm? Would this be due to the fluid inside settling and being too thick to even out unless rpm gets cracked moderately high?

We were not aware of any ATI failures. We have had a few of them come to us with no hardware which from reading outposts post was a good thing since we used our own rated hardware.
Are the know issues with the hardware or the product itself?

In my case, the hub apparently was improperly heat treated. When the hub failed the heads of 7 torx bolts sheared off.

Dave - Was it the hub that is pressed onto the crank, or the outer shell?

By just looking at other's reports on what failed, there seems to be different components identified. It's difficult for me to determine if in fact the failure mode is the same. That in itself suggests installation, verse a single component failing from a design or manufacturing defect.

I never saw the failed SuperDamper off the car so hard for me to say, sorry.

I just removed mine today because it was wobbling. After inspecting all bolts were sheared off.

If you have the receipt, ATI may replace it for you as they did for my builder, Cordes Performance Racing.

Which model of damper? Or if you don't know, how many bolts are holding the damper to the hub?

I've had one on my car for a couple years, sounds like I should look at it.

Had the same issue with sheared bolts
ATI replaced it free of charge
New pulley, we fitted all 9 taper bolts, lapped them in. Probably 85-95% full contact now
Upgraded bolts
Used loctite blue and their primer/cleaner
Print stripped all bolts to monitor them

Lets take a look from a different angle here...

What is the difference between the LS7 having the issues that the other engines do not have...is the crank flexing that much more than the other platforms due to being much lighter and different material? We all have alt, power steering, water pump etc so it cant be accessory load causing it...

We really only rev a few hundred rpm higher on average (i know momentum is squared but still).

My only thought is that our cranks are flexing back and fourth at extreme angles that the ati bolted design can't handle when the rubber is doing its job trying to dampen it.
