Agree with you, but I'd rather use a mitt and towel that takes minimal effort and time (like OMR No Rinse), and then I just use my orbital polisher once a year to get rid of any swirl marks.

I'm probably just lazy but that's how I like to keep my car and paint looking real nice.

Is the Waterless car cleaner enough to get all the dirt, bugs and grime off your car? I just feel like if you don't pre soak the car with water and it's pretty dirty then you can potentially scratch the paint if you just use waterless cleaner on it and wipe dry.

i pre soak each panel with a stronger mix of the rinseless wash from a spray bottle, let it sit while i grab my wash mit, then wash half the panel with one side of the mit, then the remaining half with the other side of the mit. after that i blot dry with a waffle towel, reapply the stronger mix, and then dry with a Rethickulus towel from detailed image

what you could do... do a paint correction on the car, after it is all nice and flawless seal it with something like Optimum gloss coat. it adds another layer of protection. 2.5 years after doing mine water still beads up like i just waxed it..... it has never been waxed after i did the sealing

Does a paint correction include getting all the swirls out as well as any minor imperfections like small rock chips? Pretty much getting the paint back to perfect condition?

correct, except the rock chip part. you would have to do touch up paint, let it harden and then the buffing pads would smooth it out... may not be completely perfect

Paint correction does not include rock chips, generally. But a detailer may offer to do that for you for free with paint correction.

Paint correction is generally limited to sanding/compounding/polishing and protecting clear coat (or single stage paint). That removes swirls and minor scratches in the top layer of paint.

this is another great thing, the less you touch and rub on the paint the better

Yes, however, generally I don't drive my car in rain and don't daily drive it. It never goes out in winter, so I am usually just getting road grime, bugs and surface dust off the paint, wheels and wheel wells. In regard to the scratches, I machine clean the paint at least once a year. Both of my vettes have one numerous car shows over the years, as recently as 2015.
