Check engine light
Hey guys took the Z out for a ride today and got a check engine light. Came home and scanned it, I was assuming it was because I just did a skip shift eliminator but I was wrong. I got a cat below threshold bank 1 and bank 2. 4 codes in all. Car only has 4200 miles on it so I doubt very much it's bad cats. Any thoughts? It's an 06 Z06 stock.

I can't remember if 06 was included but my 09 got those codes and there was a TSB for a reflash for those codes. That was a few years ago and it hasn't come back.

That reflash TSB was primarily 07-08 along with some early build 09's (which mine was), and the dealer performed the reflash. I don't think it was an 06 thing...but maybe yours was a late build 06 that falls in the VIN sequence? Did you get the P0420 or P0430 code?
Here's the TSB:

Condition
Some customers may comment that the MIL is illuminated.
Technicians may find DTCs P0420 and/or P0430 set as current or in history.
Cause
This condition may be caused by the ECM determining that either/both of the catalytic converters are exhibiting low efficiency under certain vehicle operating conditions.
Correction
Important: DO NOT replace the catalytic converters for this condition.
A revised calibration has been released to address this condition. Follow the published SI diagnostics for DTC P0420 or P0430 and repair if necessary. If the SI diagnostics do not isolate a cause for this condition, reprogram the ECM using the Service Programming System (SPS) with the latest calibration available on TIS2WEB. Refer to the SPS procedures in SI.
When using a multiple diagnostic interface (MDI) for reprogramming, ensure that it is updated with the latest software version.
When using a Tech 2® for reprogramming, ensure that it is updated with the latest software version.
During programming, the battery voltage must be maintained within the proper range of 12-15 volts. Only use the approved Midtronics® PSC 550 Battery Maintainer (SPS Programming Support Tool EL-49642) or equivalent during programming.
Warranty Information
For vehicles reprogrammed under the 8 year / 80,000 mile (130,000 km) emission controller warranty, use:

Thanks for the info, I looked up recalls for mine and that's not one of them. I don't remember which code, I should have wrote them down before I cleared them. Gonna wait and see if it happens again. Really can't see it being cats with that low of mileage.

TSB is not a recall. If it isn't under warranty they may not do anything for you without paying. TSB is just a memo to dealer for common issues to let them know what to look for.

I ran into the same issue recently, stock '09. I was getting ready to head to dealer for the TSB. I pulled the negative battery cable instead for a couple of minutes and cleared the "P0420" code. I'm guessing the code will probably/might return at some point, but two weeks later no problems.

The problem is the threshold set for reading after the cat is too narrow. The re-flash increases the threshold range.
Unless your really trust your dealer working on corvettes, just clear the code with your reader.
I have done this for years without a problem.
If it comes on too often you can have the second O2 sensor turned off.
Either way it is nothing dangerous.

Had same problem early build 2009 z06 went to dealer for reprogramming , after they reprogrammed idle was different and starting cold was not the same, idle seems a little low and it will dip down to 400 rpm's and then jump back up to where it used to be.
Going to put some miles on to see if computer will adjust if not back to dealer.
Don't know if others have had this problem.

Yeah, I cleared it. I'll see if it happens again. I just dropped the car off yesterday for new heads. Can't wait to get it back. In the fall I'm gonna do cam headers and tune.
