should i redo my coolant flush?
i did my coolant flush today. and after several gallons of water and running the car draining and running and draining. i got to the point where it was just water coming out. so i did my last drain and didn't wait till it was completely over it was just dribbling out so i just closed the petcock and started filling with dexcool well i was only able to add in just under 5 qts. so i know it isn't a 50/50 mix. it's like 60% water 40% coolant.
should i start over and get it done right?

You should be fine. The C7s come from the factory with a 60/40 mix of water/coolant. Your freeze protection won't be quite as good since it won't go down to -34 deg F but you probably don't park your car outside in those kinds of temperatures very often. With the 60/40 mix you should be freeze protected down to -15 deg F.

thanks. my car stays in the garage during winter and we only get those temps with windchill in my area and it is very rare anyway. i leave water bottles in my garage in the winter and it doesn't freeze so i guess it should be ok. if i am really worried i can do it again in the fall. for now i will leave it alone.
thanks again fellas.

When I do flushes I assume there's always gonna be a few quarts of water still left in the engine so I do something around a 70/30 final mix and I figure that brings the total mixture to about 50/50. But like others have said, a 60/40 or even 70/30 mix won't hurt unless the temps get really low. You could always just suck some fluid out of the reservoir and add pure coolant which would bring the mixture up to even without having to drain and bleed the system again.

i kept flushing till pure water was coming out. so everything left in the motor was water. 3 gal is 12 qts and when i did final fill i added almost 5 quarts of pure coolant. so the mix should be very close to 60/40.

If you are concerned, get an antifreeze tester to see where your freeze point wound up. They are usually a few bucks, at most, from a parts store. You're probably fine.

boom... combo of both ideas! got tester and it said -10 degrees so i siphoned out the reservoir and added in pure coolant. i will drive car later and do the coolant test again.

nope but just in case.. i now have it to -20 degrees with current mix. that should be good.
now i am going to leave it alone.
