Trade in price is credited toward purchase price. You're only taxed on the difference.
This from the Florida Tax Code :
What is Taxable?
Florida sales and use tax, plus any applicable discretionary sales surtax, is due on all new or used
motor vehicles sold, leased, delivered into, imported into, or used in Florida, unless a specific
exemption applies.
Florida sales and use tax is due on the sales price of the motor vehicle, including any separately
itemized charge or fee for items, such as:
• any accessory sold with the vehicle;
• preparation, settlement, or closing fees;
• freight, handling, or delivery of the motor vehicle to the dealer;
• commission; and
• any other expense or cost of the dealer that the dealer requires the purchaser to pay.
Any separately itemized fee or charge mandated by a state law for titling, licensing, or registering the
motor vehicle, or for recording a lien on the motor vehicle, is not subject to tax.
Trade-In Allowance
A registered motor vehicle dealer may deduct a trade-in allowance from the taxable sales price of a
motor vehicle when, in a single transaction, tangible personal property (not real property) is traded as
part of the motor vehicle sale. If the sale is between individuals (not registered with the Department),
the purchaser must, in a single transaction, trade an aircraft, boat, motor vehicle, or mobile home for
the motor vehicle being purchased.
That's why the sale is being done through the dealer.

True, but the bad part for someone like me in Las Vegas, NV - I have to pay NV sales tax on used cars if purchased through a dealer.
Straight private party sales are not taxed. So, in this case it would cost me $6,067 (Las Vegas, NV sales tax is 8.1%).
That is one of the main reasons that I am looking at used private party cars (in or out of NV).

Like your car. Really like the non Red interior on the white car. And, FYI same story here on sales tax. Have to pay state and local sales tax when we register it here in KS regardless whether it was a private sale or dealer but if a dealer and we paid sales tax to the state in which it was bought we would only pay on the difference if our rater was higher.
GLWS, beautiful car.

Just relocated and require a full size truck. This is my 2016 Z06 finished in Arctic White with Twilight Blue interior. Fully equipped with 3LZ, A8, Twilight Blue Package, Dual Roof package, Carbon Fiber Interior. I added the side skirts (fiberglass) and painted the front splitter to match in Carbon Metallic. Original list price was $98,955.
The car was purchased from MacMulkin Chevy in December of 2015 and taken to my home in NJ by enclosed trailer. In April of 2016, it was again taken by enclosed trailer to Parrish, Florida where it now resides. It has never seen rain, had the 500 mile service and very rarely driven. No blemishes, no stories. It is 1 of 43 Twilight Blue Package Z06 coupes built in 2016
Terms of sale are as follows;
Buyer will purchase car from MacMulkin where I am buying my truck. It will be traded to them and all transfer paperwork will be handled by Tommy Jr. Any associated processing fees will be paid to MacMulkin by me. Buyer will just pay agreed price. After all paperwork clears, car can be picked up in Parrish , Florida or buyer can arrange transport. All paperwork can be handled via Fedex, no need to travel to NH.
The price is $74,900 Title is free, clear and in my possession
If this price is not agreeable to any forum members, I ask that you kindly refrain from negative comments. I have been a member here for over 10 years and have seen what happens with some of the sale threads.
Thank you for looking.
