I'm considering the purchase of a Z06 Convertible (New or Low Mileage Used). My Corvette friends are trying to convince me that the Z06 is a TRACK CAR and has a very stiff ride for long road trips. they are recommending a Grand Sport or ZR1 instead of a Z06 because of the harsh ride..........can you comment on that........

the car belongs to a good friend of mine. I’ve had my share of corvettes too and the best one I ever had was a Z06. I never tracked it and did take it on some long rides. I thought it was very comfortable. I had a plain C6 with the Z51 handling package and thought that wa s a rougher ride than the Z06. If you PM me I could give you my friends number and you could talk. The car is honestly better than new. It’s never seen rain and that Expel is a great option. He puts it on all his cars. Literally no chance of a stone chip. The Grand Sport looks like the Z06 but a totally different car.

the Z06 would slot in between the grand sport and ZR1 price wise and performance wise. Not sure why somebody would recommend a grand sport or ZR1 but not the Z06? I’ve never driven the ZR1 bit between the three the Z06 would seem the obvious choice.

also has the added ground affects and upgraded exhaust. If you want the stock exhaust he has that in storage and could switch it back no problem.

no issues. The car is perfect.
He has a three year old son who wants to go for rides in dads cool car but he can’t sit in the front seat. And of course there is no back seat. He’s getting a BMW M 4 convertible. He typically doesn’t keep cars very long anyway. He’s in the business.
It really is an amazing car and $20,000 less than a new one. It will be a great buy for somebody.
Thanks for looking!

I am being told by "so called" knowledgable Corvette enthusiasts that the Z06 has a much more harsh suspension than a Z51, Grand Sport or even a ZR1.......I am being told that the Z06 was built to be RACED.......not taken on 1,000 mile road trips that I plan to do with the car. So the question is of all 4 suspension packages.......Z51, Grand Sport, Z06 and ZR1.......is the Z06 clearly the worst ride of the 4...........???.........That is what I am trying to determine..........

ive never been in a 2019 ZR1 and likely never will be at $125,000 or more and 755 horsepower I can’t imagine it’s a more timid ride than a Z06. From experience. I owned a C6 with Z51 which I thought was the harshest suspension wise between that and the Z06. Although they all were comfortable to me. I went on over 100mile ride in this car and felt fine at the end. I’m a 52 year old guy. (After a couple hours in my sons Subaru my knees and back are a little sore)
Probably be good to read some more posts on the ZR1. It’s a real supercar and I just can’t believe it’sore comfy than a Z06. I’ve never tracked any car I had and don’t know anybody who does. I know they’re out there but most people who buy these cars just enjoy them on the road.
Good luck with your search. They are all amazing cars and I’ve loved all 4 that I’ve owned.

the other thing you could do is go drive one at a Chevy dealer. I don’t think you’ll find a ZR1 to test drive but a Z06 should not be a problem. And drive a grand sport to compare. The fun factor will be way higher in the Z06!
