I'm going to skip the NC event since there is one being held in Atlanta. The biggest issue is if you have a manual. The 4th-5th shift is not always the easiest when over 150 and you need to hit it smoothly. Last Spring, I was able to easily hit mid 160's on my old ECS 1500 setup with poor traction at 3k feet.

I have an MGW so that may alleviate a little bit of the shifting issue hitting 7th instead of 5th, but at the last event Ron at VR told me the adrenalin will be pumping but just think in your head that you're shifting from 4-5 easy like you're cruising along on normal roads. This must have helped because I didn't miss all day.
That said, this next event I'll probably be the one that misses this shift all day long. LOL.

I been considering going up to this and check it out. Sounds like a good time and not too far from me.

I did Sunday only, hopefully it will be less crowded then

Usually not as crowded on Sunday. It's really not too bad though. They limit the number of cars and the guys that do all of the events will only make a couple passes each day and then they're done.

Seems to depend on the event/venue as to how crowded it ends up feeling. I did the one in VA last year and it felt wide open.. went to the one in GA and it was horrible. I was there 7 hours and barely got 2 runs in. Pretty horrible. They've reduced the number of cars and limited the sponsors more since then to hopefully help with it
I figure later in the day Sunday it should be fairly open
Or I'll blow something up and it won't matter, we'll see

platform differences
That is completely irrelevant. The C6 and C7 are based on complete different technologies The C6 is at the END of its development cycle and the C7 is at the beginning relatively speaking. Anyone that believes the C6 is superior to the C7 platform is in denial. The C7 makes more torque per HP than a C6, handles better than a C6, more efficient than a C6, and a much more comfortable car to drive.
The window is narrowing drastically also between how much power can be made comparing the two platforms.

Question? With the half mile I was thinking I would use my 18's with my drag setup Mickey s/s but was wondering will it make any difference over using my stock 20's with the new toyo r888r?
what do you guys think would be the best way to go?
Would it it be better to keep stock ride height?
I want to be safe but getting the most performance as possible.
thanks in advance for your opinions.

You have more power than me, but I was fine with my R888's at the event I did. That said, I'll have 18's and MT's on the back this time so I'll be able to let you know the difference I see once I get to the event. LOL. Which I know is too late.
I'm lowered all the way on stock bolts. I intend on raising the rear end up slightly due to the tire expansion at high speeds with the MT's so they don't rub the fender liner too bad. My current 20's don't rub, but the new MT's are almost .5" taller and of course have a larger sidewall with more expansion. Not sure just how much I'll have to raise it but will start with about a half inch and go up from there.

I hit 182 with 1200 rwhp C6Z06 last May in the GA 1/2 mile, on 18" M/T drag radials, still spinning 1st and 2nd gear. Seems like hitting mid 170s is not that difficult, its after the mid 170s that it gets hard, at least that was our experience in 3 different 1/2 mile events.

I plan on going...but only as a spectator. I wish they would post a list of the participants and which days they're running. Would love to see the Vengeance cars run as well as the cars from Underground Racing. I guarantee they'll be there since this event is not far from either shop. I'd love to see UGR try for a new record and bust their 238mph!

We run most of the series and will definitely be at NC with about 25-30 customer vehicles, as well as our twin-turbo C6Z shop car. Low elevation and good surfaces to come at this track so should be some fast times!
In regards to the OP's question, 180 takes not only ~1,000-1,100rwhp but also TRACTION. We had a customer's 416/2200R on 18" drag radials and a M7 trans running in Sulphur Springs, TX late last year running consistent 175's but slipping and sliding all over the runway. Our M7 Z06 went 177 at Clayton a few years ago right at 1,080rwhp on 15" tires. I believe AMP and M2K are the only ones breaking 180mph with a F1X and F2 car respectively on a well put together wheel/tire setup and auto transmissions.
Look forward to seeing you out there! Come by and say hello at our trailer when you're at the event!

Hopefully we will have good weather on our side. Can't wait.

Bumping to see if more folks decided to head to NC this weekend. I should be arriving Friday for the early check-in. I'll be in a Laguna Blue C7 with OH plates in the Vengeance customer area. I look forward to seeing everyone's setup and seeing you run. Which most likely will lead to me needing more power.
