Matt, thanks for the share!

We are now installing these same X-675hp Packages on the Stingray's for $7,999. We currently have two kits on the shelf ready for install.

If anyone is interested in this upgrade give me a call @ 513-834-6818

Here is a quick recap.

1. Totally different car! Tons more power under 4000rpm! Boost comes on strong...all the way up to 11-12psi...Throttle response is much improved.
2. No more V4 mode! Don't miss it.
3. After driving it for a month I took it back to Weapon X because of some surging during partial acceleration (50-70%) They were able to adjust some tune parameters and the surging is gone.
4. Going to need bigger tires....lol!
5. Exhaust note is MUCH louder after the blower install!
6. Love the factory look!
7. IAT2/MAT temps get pretty hot 180-190 range..If sitting in traffic or when heavy on the throttle for a long stretch. I'm sure that the fact that there is not much air movement under the hood with the stock stingray hood does not help..I guess this is the inherited heat soak issue from the Z06....Next trip to Weapon X will be for their track attack heat exchanger and expansion tank. (AND...ARH headers!)
8. Had some tuning done on the A8 to delay the upshift to 7th and 8th gear....The car was always hurrying into those gears and then would "bog". Also had the downshift times quickened going from 8-7 and 7-6....Way better! No changes to shift times or pressures.
9. Bought a MMS Mild Z06 catch can/breather....Will work on installing this soon.
10. Bought the insulator sock for the Halltech intake...hope that will help with the IAT temps

All in all I have no regrets! An awesome upgrade that I am very happy with!

I thought by running the stock LT1 cam you would be able to keep the variable timing and have it shut down to a V4? Was it a tune that made you loose it?
my v4 mode was removed with my pro charger tune. I think it's due to the extra effort it would take to safely tune it. Probably not good to run with such a restrictive exhaust and such high power levels.

I could have kept V4, but had it tuned out. Less stress on the engine and the transmission. I can deal with the 4-5 mpg less on the highway..

Wonder how well this would work on a Grand Sport and would you be in it for the same amount $ wise as comparable Z06 anyway?

Would work fine. Grand Sport uses the same LT1 engine as the Stingray. I imagine it ends up being less expensive than trading up to a Z06..depreciation plus a higher initial Z06 price would be more costly, but you would have full warranty.

Ok so it would work well that's good to know but now if you had a GS 3LT and a Z06 3LZ equally equipped would it just be easier to buy the Z06 than do the mod to the GS and keep your warranty intact?

Just checked Chevy web site a GS starts at 65k and a Z06 at 79k so 14k difference unless you found a smoking deal come tax time. I guess the biggest consideration would be if you already owned a older car and wanted to get into this power level vs buying a new car and dumping 8 grand in it right off the bat.

That would a tough choice. Guess I better start saving!!!!

well, the graph i just looked at shows torque starts falling around 4300 on the z06. what cam is in these engines anyways? because it seems with a centri you get flat torque over a very wide range.

IMO If you already have a GS I would do the upgrade, if not I would spend the extra 14K and get the Z06.

Or you can buy a z51 get a weaponx body kit ECS/HEADERS/METH/CAMS/HEADS/HEADERS . Any wheel/tire combo you want on and get 1000whp at the price of a stock z06. On top of that have a completely custom ride with a brand new paint job thats better than any that come from chevy.

I wonder which one is better? LOL

Does the GS share the same hood as the Z06?? if so that should help with airflow under the hood.

The Grand Sports share the same hood as a Stingray. We do offer Hoods a slightly more aggressive cowl than the Z06 hoods for cooling.

How long can the stock shortblock handle 12psi with its 11.5:1 comp ratio? Does that seem like a lot?
