Default Any downside to pulling restrictor plate on ECS kit?

Hey guys,

I had Doug on the phone and I should have asked him but I didn't think of it till I hung up.

I have a 15 Z51 A8 with the following mods ECS 1500 kit/meth/AR longtubes with high flow cats (may have to lose them) Car makes 610rwhp right now.

Anyway my car will be going there in about a month and I confirmed with him that we can pull the plate and pick up another 2-3 PSI and roughly 40rwhp.

Doug will retune the car and do the work but is there any downside to pulling the plate? Losing torque curve or anything like that? I assume more power is always better then less Next year I plan to do the drop in forged pistons/small blower cam/duel meth nozzle and pulley.

Thanks guys

With your setup it sounds like it would be ok. I'm at 750rwhp and have the restrictor plate in on the ECS 1500 until I put the pistons in....then it will be gone! So for me it's in for safety issues at the moment.

Yea mine is an A8 so it feels pretty fast to me already. I figured like Doug mentioned, pulling it will pick up another 40-50hp and put my car right around 650rwhp and thats perfect for me for now. I know Doug knows I am all about safety so he will take care of me with the tune.

Later down the road when I do the pistons/cam then we can do a pulley swap and make big boy power like you

Sounds like you're going to have a badass setup! Post some pics of the CCW's when you get them on.

This is fact. Only downside to the OP is going to be hooked and want more! 3.75 pulley, pistons, all forged shortblock etc 😃

Nah to the OP you're in good hands with Doug. TONS of cars running around with the 1500 kit, no restrictor and meth. 10-11 psi

As far as the other mods you mentioned that is also on the agenda lol That will be in a year or so to finish the build.

For the rims I ordered these rims in Gloss Black finish in 18/19 ... 10.5 fronts and 11.5 rears. I actually copied another forum members setup. John from CCW personally put together the package that would allow him to run a r888 325 in the rear. The car may have to be lowered on stock bolts a little and the inner fender liner MAY have to be slightly shaved down if there is rubbing. All good and no prob. I love custom stuff

He has forged pistons to keep him safe per say for the short block side of things. Pistons at 750 rwhp on the stock piston you are asking to break them weak point do to just being to tight & no forged.

Rings are cut & just to close that is the problem & they will break from top to second ring in the piston. If you are at 750 you are really lucky just time before you do something if you hit on it hard at all for any amount of time.. Robert

I do have a cam. I have stock pistons as well as HPFP and injectors as well. I am running meth though and E85. One thing to keep in mind is I still have the ECS restrictor in place so I'm running low boost. Once the restrictor is pulled I'll need the pistons and/or rods as well plus additional fueling. Mine is an M7.
