Another LT4 Stingray (LT1) install
T/A KID and MANAGERMAN inspired me to install an LT4 supercharger on my 2016 A8 Z51 LT1.

Jeremy Formato (FasterProms.net) and his assistant Eric, who has otherwise tuned my supercharged C6 and CTS-V to great satisfaction took on the task of installing and tuning. He installed the LT4 supercharger, sourced the misc parts, installed headers and tuned to 553 RWHP.
Compared to where it started, the car runs amazingly strong and smooth. Unfortunately, 200 miles into the drive home the supercharger seized and threw the drive belt. Thank goodness the supercharger drive belt is separate, I still had another 150 miles to go (which the car did without issue with limited power). I replaced the supercharger and determined that the bypass valve in the original was not operating. I don't believe this supercharger is designed for 100% duty and believe (hope) that is why my initial supercharger failed. I speculate this may have been the issue for T/A KID also. Thoughts? Word of caution, if you do this install make sure the bypass valve is functioning.

I have enjoyed this car with the added LT4 supercharger for some 5000 miles now. I had one nagging frustration over part throttle smoothness that I had not been able to resolve despite several tuning sessions. This week Paul Smith (paulsmithsr@yahoo.com, 281-450-1498) fixed my frustration with a remarkably simple and cheap change to my installation. He then retuned my installation remotely to be butter smooth, knock free, and remarkably more potent. I recommend anyone struggling to make their LT4 modified LT1 to give Paul a try. His pricing is fair and I am very satisfied.
Cheers,

What was the "fixed my frustration with a remarkably simple and cheap change to my installation."?

I thought he meant something besides the tune changes.

I had the exact same issue on the LT4 Supercharger I put on my Z51. We were running down to Reno from WA and driving about 70 5 hours into the drive and the Supercharger locked up. I do not like mysteries and have been trying to figure out what happened. It was not over spun, cooling system was good. A long shot but I noticed on my valley pan the tube seems short going into the lower housing, have no idea! Thought is something got injested. I have a really nice unit being sent to me which should arrive this week. Any thoughts on how this seems to be happening would be greatly appreciated. The interior on my damaged supercharger was trashed due to the twin screws hitting the housing and the damage was beyond repair.

I think my supercharger seized because my bypass valve was stuck closed and the supercharger was in boost all the time. I don't think they are designed for full time operation. In your seized unit, can you move the valve by hand? I couldn't. I would also suggest checking that the vacuum lines are correctly connected.

On mine the valve had no issues, and a lines were correct. Here is a pic of blade damage. Interior!

Can you elaborate on the vacuum lines? I am putting my new one in and am bit confused on the set up, I think I have it right but not 100% sure. On mine I took both vacuum lines off the routed them directly back ito the fittings on the supercharger (there is a sensor unit on the front passenger side of the supercharger that seems to be useless for the Z51 conversion for the LT4 Supercharger. Additionally I am researching if on the front drivers side a connection to the superchargers sensor is required as I cannot find a wire harness to connect it to. Its a bit disconcerting not knowing. Here is a pic so far in the rebuild, very happy so far, should be done tomorrow!
