Hard to tell in the picture if that is damage or carbon buildup

Default Piston woes ??

Geeez! I was going to order a Procharger P-1SC supercharger tomorrow for my 2017 C7 Z51 but now I am extremely suspicious that the LT1 has no tolerance for a SC ...... unless you're just doing street! I am not adding any other mods so the likelyhood the P-1SC will get me past 600 rwhp is nil.

I was planning to track it so if I am staying well under the 600 rwhp should I worry and do a piston/rod upgrade same time ?

Nah, you’ll be fine with just that.

Only reason i caught it, is because i knew engine was living on borrowed time and i did leak down test when i noticed more oil in catch can and small small misfire at 50mph.. I bet you i drove 300miles with broken ringland.. ( i am guessing i broke it at track )
Sent you a PM ......

To think I did not get the Z06 cuz I didn't want to spend the extra 10G ! Now I am kicking my A$$. If I decide to track I know I will want more power but then I will have to crack open my LT1 block and replace the ***** pistons ..... and rods also I hear !

if u stay at around 600whp with a good tune u should be fine. I am doing one as well... nothing is guaranteed with #s though u could blow ur motor completely stock , you could run 700whp boosted and not blow it...

I was planning on doing headers but will probably stick with just the SC.

Default Lt1

I was doing this mod so that I could go to track and not get passed by “everybody” on the straights!! Frig it! I’m just going to giver! A fella could go the the track or strip with stock motor and still blow it up! Life is so!!

Default Lt1 pistons

when you say the pistons were screwed what do you mean? Factory issue or the issue in this thread?

That sucks! But based on how many people installed blowers on their stock car including myself, that was a very uncommon outcome. Mine had an Si trim, long tube headers and meth at 640 rwhp on the stock bottom end for about 20k miles so 600 rwhp is a breeze. I typically recommend staying below 700 rwhp to people if they don’t do pistons.

I would love to hear from Vengence Racing and/or Andy/Josh from A&A. Looks like Vengence drop in pistons are for applications over 700 HP.
