Default 8.8 lower with centri

Anyone run a 8.8 lower with a centri? I am running the 8.4 lower and 2.95 upper on my 2200X and I saw a good amount of belt slip at TX2K. Curious about running the 8.8 lower and 3.33 upper which should spin the blower basically the exact same.

I am assuming I will have to have the 8.8 custom made. Trying to see if ECS will make me one in a 10 rib.

Are you 8 or 10 rib now? Very surprised it's slipping if you are running a 10 now.

Yessir it’s a 10. It’s tightened about as far as it can be. It’s slipping bad on the big end

Be carful dont over tighten it, it will break your bearings and then your blower will be f***ed up, that exactly what happened to me, had less than 4-5k miles on my ysi and it shattered everything. Try and get a griptek pulley, try to coat your lower ring with Carbinite coating, good luck

What pulley combo did you run? Did you ever try a 8.8 lower and 3.33 upper?

yea that’s why I’m thinking a larger lower to be able to run a larger upper. 2.xx pulleys on the ysi is nuts.

Why not put a bigger one on blower and run higher rpm?

Just be carful to not over tighten the belt, you dont want this to happen for your blower

Nah. That’s not sustainable.

What belt are you using? Typically the ten rib will hold 22 lbs no problem, I'm surprised you are slipping.

Hmmm... That's a thought. I was just assuming the belt that came with the blower would be the right one. However maybe because I am running the 2.95 upper I should go a little smaller? What do you think Doug? Suggest the smaller belt that black_c7 suggests?

See the belt on the manual idler is really close to the belt on the other side, that means the manual idler is tightened all the way, which means the belt is long, i ran that belt on my 8.35 2.7 pulley combo not sure if its will work with yours

Good luck

10 rib belts are limited in the sizes you can get, we like the new RPM belts from Gates but they are not available yet in your size. I'm most concerned with seeing how your tensioner looks, the % that it is off it's stop, than the adjustable idler. That's just there to take up or loosen the belt for different pulley combos with keeping the same belt.

The next size down in Gates is a 25-100465 if needed.
