Again, will Toyo R888R's work on a boosted Vette??
Ready to buy some new street tires and want to try Toyo R888R's.. My Vette is lowered on stock bolts so I'll use the stock Z51 size f/b. The front will be
245/35/19 and the rear will be 285/30/20. My Vette is running 644rwhp.
I've got two sets of wheels, stock Z51 and XO Verona. I would run the 315/30/20 Toyo R888R on the rear if they would fit without rubbing. I've been reading where the new R888R's are bigger than the same size R888's.. There's about a 1 1/2" gap from the top of the rear tire and the fender well. Thank you for your time and replies..
I'm wondering if these tires would work better than MPSS.. Thanks John

I have 620 whp with the r888r 315 30 20, with HRE 20 X 11 wheels.
1) I put all power from first gear
2) The tires rub on the outside with the fender on oneven highway at 100 + mph.
3) The tire make a lot of noise on the street.

I got 295/30/19 r888rs on my car with 570/530 hp/tq and similarly, I dead hooked on 1st from a 15 mph pull on 50 ambient temperature. Wasant expecting it to hook. Scared me actually. But that's about as far as my testing went cause it's just my track tires.

Great tire, i believe it's the same compound as the Nitto NT05R, Toyo being the parent company to nitto.

I run the 315/30/20s and they got the job done until about 900 wheel.

What kind of mileage are you all getting out of r888r and nt05r tires?
I'm going to need some upgrades over the MPSS soon and I'm thinking of running a drag radial or similar. But if I'm only going to get 5k out of them, then maybe I should deal with a little less traction for now.

also, not sure if you knew but the MT ET street are coming out in 3 weeks in Z51 sizes. 285 30 20, that's what I have currently on my OZ Verona wheels. I'm pretty sure the MT ET street will hook better then the 888?

The ET Streets will definitely hook better. They will also wear about twice as fast and not handle well. I run NT01 315 30 20s for my street tire at 800 rwhp and really like them. First gear is still useless, 2nd gear tries really hard and 3rd is planted with my M7. At 650 they will hook good except from a dead stop dig. NT01 and R888 are allegedly made of the same compound. I'm not.sure about the R888R.

Anyone know if the r888 will fit on the stock z06 wheels without rubbing? They are a little taller than stock. BTW i ran 315 r888s on my old 14 z51 that was 700whp. I street raced that car a lot and it would hook really well even from a dig. half of the battle is knowing how to get out of the hole.

After reading the OP post again, he will def want to wait for the ET street to come out if he wants to stick with Z51 sizes. Not only are they cheaper but they will be much better for 1st gear traction. Jegs told me they will be available in 3 weeks from now. $400 each ugh... Gotta pay to play.

They sure do hook like a **** on my 640whp C5 Z06 but in the corners they feel a bit unsettled and I always slow down in the corners a bit.
They just don't feel "right" in the corners.
Too soft a sidewall, I think.
In regards to wear, I've gotten to the point that traction trumps all in a high whp car and if I had to spend $600 or so every season for traction (provided I was putting decent miles on the car) it wouldn't faze me.
I'm also going to look at the Toyo's when it is time to replace.
