Default AMP bests C7 1/2 Mile World Record

The Existing C7 1/2 mile record established by AMP at the TEXAS MILE in March of 2018 at 195.9 was bested this last weekend at WANNAGOFAST Dallas event. AMP upped the record to 199.82 on SUNDAY twice at the event. Saturdays runs were in the 196 range (SEE speed slips). Traction was somewhat limited due to the cold temperatures as evidenced by the relatively slower initial launch even on the 199.82 run (SEE VIDEO LINK AT END OF THIS POST) . Car is capable with perfect traction of being a 215-220 MPH half mile car boost only. The car is still very streetable. In fact it was driven to the WANNAGOFAST event location from AMP's shop location about 7 miles away both Saturday and Sunday.

Congrats to AMP.

These are four of the speed slips from the event. The two 196 MPH runs were Saturday and the two 199.82 runs were Sunday. I noticed the saturday slips have the incorrect date on them for some reason (10-11 instad of 11-10)

I was there in my Mclaren, saw those 200mph passes. Impressive for sure. Pretty scary when he went sideways what seemed like eternity. I was sure happy that was uneventful and car wasn’t damaged either. Congrats on a great weekend of crazy fast 1/2 mile racing!

THANKS!!! Yeah, there was at least a half dozen of you Mclaren boys there it seemed. Beautiful cars and sneaky fast. The runway definitely had a running groove and if you got out of it it was fairly dusty. The last half of the half mile is where you had to be careful .The higher powered PORSCHES were having some issues as well.

sr71bb If you don't mind, what kind of engine speeds were you running on the top end of the track.

Yeah, the red 997 is another 200mph car that they lined me up next to... I politely declined to the track official and sure enough he spun right after he launched. I had a bad feeling and I was right! Surprised the Lambos didn’t have any issues since most, if not all are converted to RWD. Anyway, not to derail your thread, congrats again on an awesome weekend.

Well I guess threy wouldnt mind me sharing this. LOL The car is geared for the half mile to MAX out at around 8000 RPM. Because of the conditions, it was crossing the line around 7150 RPM . You had to basically ease into the throttle or the car would blow the tires off. On Saturday's run for example the car smoked the tires twice in the first 150 feet but still made a 196 MPH run. There was a transition at about the 1/8 mile that you had to get past before you really hammered the car. The AWD drives like the LAMBO of course didnt have these type of traction issues/ Lower powered cars of course werent as afftected either. AMP ran their basically stock ZR1 and made a 162 MPH run but you still had to baby it at the start but it had the stock tire setup.

I wonder why they would convert to RWD from AWD on the LAMBOs??? I kmow they can put stronger front differentials in them to handle more power because the stock setup is relatively weak and cant handle the big power setups.

Thanks for replying.

Was thinking in the 8k range, my bottom end is good for 8500 but I've only got the engine up to par so far. The rest of the drivetrain is still stock. My biggest concern tough is the rockers. I had built a G8 L76 the same way but there was plenty of good quality shaft mount/steel braced rockers (ie:T&D) to be had. For these....not so much as far as I know. For me that's the last piece of the puzzle. It will be a dual role. Flat out ***** to the walls top end /1/2 mile then endurance road racing. If by chance you guys are using something different, I would be greatly indebted to you to know. I just don't trust the stockers for anything except for short bursts to 7k ish.

Go to advancedmodernperformance Instagram page and look at 2nd pic. They are using the new Manton rocker system it comes with taller valve covers and some very nice rocker and pushrod assemblies. Very trick stuff

No Problem. Remember that it is a whole lot easier to make power than it is to effectively put it to the ground.

Amen to that.
I dont have the mag ride system so step 1 is going to be coilovers inks..etc. In the end i might not be able to put down the power as effectively because switching steups between drag and track is not in the budget. But it will work much better than stock in the end. Im keeping it under 1000hp now untill the rest of the drivetrain goes in.
