Very common when you disconnect the mass air sensor. One of your pins is not connecting. I took a silver sharpie and put a mark across the wires going into harness to make sure non of the pins pushed out while removing and reattaching harness. It’s a bitch to get back in line if they do push out...ask me how I know...lol

Got it!!!
Thanks fellas...I was about to replace the iat sensor so I disconnect the battery to clear the code once the code cleared everything went back to normal fan cut off and rev match started working again

Did you ever figure the cause of this? Mine just started and it's done it twice already. I'm tired of disconnecting the battery....

broken pins on maf sensor. Open the hood. Where maf sensor attaches in front of throttle body on air intake tubing. Pin side of harness had one pin broken

Check for pending codes. There are a few that can cause this. Coolant temp sensor or coolant temp not behaving normally. It’s basically not 100% sure the coolant temp reading is accurate so it goes wide open on the fan to cool it as much as possible as a sort of fail safe
(assuming it’s similar to c6’s, forgot I was in the c7 section)
