Default Used centrifugal supercharger - Anything to worry about?

Hi,

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I am thinking of going with a supercharger but was thinking of looking the used route. Is there anything to look for or be worried about with buying a used one vs new one? I'm looking at centrifugal ones. I thought about the LT4, but being I have a GS, I am a stickler for badging and having LT4 show when I have an LT1 is not what I want to do (unless there is some way to remove the LT4 wording). I know it sounds stupid but that's just me.

Just wondering if "buy new" is the only way to go or if being a gently used one with a couple thousand miles is asking for trouble.

Thank you!

If you bought a used one from me, there would be nothing to worry about.

I have some rebuilt units and a couple of used ones. Everything else in the kit would be brand new.
The regular kit is $5450. A remanufactured one would be $4350 and a kit with a used head unit would be $4000. You'll have your choice of Blowoff valves, pully sizes, etc. just as you would with a new kit.

I am new to the supercharger game, is there any warranty or backing on a remanufactured one? What goes into a remanufactured one?

Thank you!

Can’t go wrong with a&a. I bought my kit used for $3600, but I ended up buying new plugs, belt, different pulley, 2014 to 2015 pulley mount, and new balancer bolt and then latter after tune issues due to the 2014 larger intake piping from their 4”’ to 3.5’’piping it was more than 4K, but that was 3 years ago. 4K from a&a is a deal. A&A helped me throughout my installation process even though I didn’t buy from them. Great customer service!

if anyone needs or looking for a 2014 pulley mount or 3.8 pulley let me know...lol

The reman units are fresh from Vortech. They put in whatever they need to make them "new" again. Bearings and seals are a given. If there was anything else needed (gears, shafts etc.) they were also replaced. Vortech will not "patch" them to get them back in service.
The kit will have a year warranty. The reman head unit will have 6 months and a used one 90 days. I've only ever had to replace one of the used units I sold. We check them out pretty thoroughly.
You won't get that buying a used kit from anyone else.

I like the idea of the centrifugal units, however the prochargers are just so loud at idle its the only turnoff I have about the units. But, word on the street is that A&A puts together one hell of a kit. I am on the fence right now between an LT4 headunit from Weapon X and one from A&A.

Andy, your name was mentioned from Tony at Tony's Corvette shop in Maryland. 30 plus years in the business, his recommendation comes with serious weight.

If you take a close look at the price between a used one and new one, complete, ready to go. There is very little difference in price. For me its not worth the risk. Buy a new one!!!!

I must not have the money as the guy above me.... got a complete procharger kit used with about 20 k miles on it and have 2 grand in it. All kinds of guys selling good used units cuz of trading there car in. No brainer for me!!! Heard lots of these kits with maintenance have gotten 100k miles out of them!!! There’s really not alot to them!!! But if you got the money and need to spend it.......

Magnusson has a 3/36 powertrain warranty when installed by a certified dealer.

Tune time performance does a ton if them in NJ.

Doing one right now on a sebring orange GS

Centrifugal blowers are great for top end power but leave some to be desired down low.
