How Many of You "08 Buyers are Planning on a C7?

Scary and maybe undesirable info but it makes sense...luckily the C6 is such an awesome car that with various minor updating I believe it can easily stay contemporary or current well into the future if need be.

My plan has always been to get a new C6 once they made significant changes (08), then hold onto that car until the C7 comes along some day. If I'm spending $50K for a toy, I want it to be the latest thing instead of a design that's been around. Unfortunately, my 05 has been so flawless, and it's so similar to the 08, that I'm having a hard time convincing myself to sell it for the new car. The loss of Lemans Blue is also a factor, I just love deep blue sports cars.

Planning on getting a 2009, another C6 since I turn cars over at 3/36, regardless.
By 2012 the C7 should have the first-run bugs worked out, so for me it works.
Now if that prediction from some obscure -- albeit extinct -- central American race comes true we'll all be destroyed sometime in 2012.
Got a notion a C7 won't have my full attention if they're correct, too.

I've taken a wait and see attitude. I've skipped every other gen. Of course now, at my ahhh older age, that may go out the window.

I'm good with my VR NCM 2007 Z06 2LZ Q44. It is really I all could want or need for the street. Great looks, cargo space, decent gas milage, and plenty of streetable power, braking, and handling (tuned w/KB of course).
No C7 for me, I'm going a different route; I'm going Radical!!!

I'm taking it to the track. The thought of tracking a Z or a Vipe full time or even HPDEs is crazy when you can get one of these Radicals; faster, safer, and less costly to maintain.

Thought I'd put this out there. With the C7 rumored for 2010 as a 2011 model, and also rumored to get the LS7, and almost certain to get a new body style, new interior and electronic features how many of you who will be pulling the trigger on the '08 are planning on flipping it for a C7?

505hp in the base car???
My C6 won't be replaced with another C6, but with a C7.
How many of you '08 folks will be buying C7s in 2010 or 2011?
So, I guess anything is possible.

Picking up my 08 Z today and I'm game for a C7 soon, but never the first model year its out. I did that with the 01 Z and the 06 Z and both times wished I had waited for the following year.

Thing have really changed since this thread was first posted. Now it looks like the C7 will be so different and so far off, that I don't even think about it anymore. Worry about that one in 5 years.
My 05 is here to stay, and instead of spending $35k+ upgrading to a C6Z that looks and feels so similar to the regular C6 on the street, I'm looking hard at a C5Z or the new 2010 Camaro as a possible garage mate to the 2005. I think the excitement around that car will far surpass the C6 in 2009-2010.

I know it sounds like I'm justifying the huge price difference between the cars and trying to make myself feel better, but I'm really trying not to do that. When I look in the mirror, I would just rather own two different cars that really suit my usage than one Z06 where I give up more than I get.

I drove my buddies brand new 08 Zo6 and at everyday speeds it felt just like an ordinary C6. However, jump on it and it gets a bit scary. Now, in my opinion, the C7 probably will not need to be more HP, but, because of economic & political pressure, I would guess (and that's all this is) be more traction enhanced! Give all Corvettes better traction and you'll sell these babies till the cows come home.

Yes, a few of them in. One was even a trade-in at a friends dealership that I could and did drive as hard as I pleased for as long as I wanted. Good car for sure, but severly traction limited in 1st-2nd, and almost no faster than my C6 at the speeds that I'm willing to drive on the street. I'm not really a 120+ mph street racer, or the type that can afford to heavily track a $70k car (and maybe wreck it with no coverage). The Z06 feels just like a C6 with 20% more power that's heavily track focused to me. Dry sump, carbon fiber, aluminum frame, etc... couldn't feel those. I do like the look of the Z better, but the roof issue cancels that out as well. In reality, the more I drove it and planned the purchase, the less I wanted one.

Just ordered a C6 Z. I'll have to see what the C7 looks like, but I plan on keeping the '08 Z for a loooooooooong time.
The '08 would have to be a dog for me to consider a C7 unless there were VERY dramatic improvements. And the costs aren't likely to go down. Besides, there aren't very many places one can use the performance of the current Z besides a race track.
So...I'll stay for now.
