Default C7

All the car jocks are making bigger, faster units and right now there seems to be no end in sight. With $5, $6, $7 gas, ther bottom could drop out of the car business overnight. Maybe they,re not reading the same Wall Street Journal or watching the same TV news as I am. I just spent 20K on my new 07 Coupe bringing the 6.0 to 524 HP along with a reconfigured Z06 rearend. It tracks well with little wheelspin and eats Z06,s, so I'm going to keep it forever.... If forever is 8 years, will there be a replacement available that doesn't run on batteries?

I am holding on to my 05 Velocity Yellow vert until the C7's come out however if I am not happy with size and horse power of the C7 I will be buying a C6 in the last year that it is produced.
I don't want to go backwards.

505hp in the base car???

My C6 won't be replaced with another C6, but with a C7.

How many of you '08 folks will be buying C7s in 2010 or 2011?
That depends on the price of gas!

I believe we'll see the c7 later than 2010 ...2011 or 2012..

GM is bleeding red ink and the corvette c6 is a fine vehicle.

I think we'll see evolutionary changes and then in 2013 if we are lucky we'll see the C7.

I enjoy the new c6 I bought this year. With the Z51 and the NPP exhaust its a good sports car.

I paid cash for it and its all about enjoying the drive...

When the second or third year of the c7 rolls out...if it has sequential dual clutch technology ....and at least the same acceleration as the LS3 C6...

I'll buy. Till then...I'll just enjoy the 08 C6 I own.

if those facts are true, I'm a C7 buyer, but if they get re-routed to a smaller corvette with less HP and smaller displacement, count me out

I plan on keeping my LS3 C6. Plenty of horsepower for me, and the C6 has what's destined to be (IMO) a very classic body style.

Maybe I'll look at a C8...if the Vette survives until then.

How about smaller displacement with twin turbo? Thats where we are headed if gas gets truly insane. IMO not a bad place to go.

I can see the C7 finding a place, but the C is solid, stylish, and says the right statement, which should be good enough to tide most people over.

We leased ours on purpose just so we could get into a C7 when they arrive.

Excellent post Warc and I share your concern. However, as I understand it the CAFE standards are an average across all vehicles sold, meaning if GM sells 100k eco-cars that get 35mpg they can get away with selling 20k (or whatever it is) vettes pretty easily. In a way this balances out, because with current gas prices fewer people will be buying the major gas guzzlers like big trucks/SUVs.

I regularly already get 30+mpg easily on long trips which I think is incredible for this kind of car. Instead of slapping a 7.0 in the C7 though, I'd rather see them improve the current LS2/LS3 base.. give it direct injection and better flow and have it make 500 horsepower through engineering.

I plan on sticking with the C6. No need to have the latest toy always.

Although, my Jeep will probably get traded in for some sort of Cadillac or BMW once the Vette is paid off.

Yes - but, I will wait for the fourth model year again. It usually takes GM a few years to get a new model up to snuff.
