You can have fun speculating but don't try to make something sound like fact when it's just more of the same old SWAG. I've yet to see a dealership or a car salesman privy to new car design and production at General Motors. It does, however, sound like a great way to further sales of 2008 model C6's.

C7 CORVETTE HINTS HERE:
“Production of the redesigned Corvette is to start April of 2012 for the 2013 model year. Three design proposals have been selected; the final decision is expected to be made this summer. Contrary to some reports, a mid-engine model is NOT planned, the front engine layout will be maintained”
at my age that is way way too long...i hope it isn't true. 2010 would be nice.......hurry gm

The C7 should have AWD, carbon fiber body, and at least 500 HP. All for uner 50K MSRP.

The dynos Ive seen say hes right, even if GM isnt claiming 450 at the crank, the wheels are making more than advertised

AutoWeek on line today said the new XLR is due out 2012-2013. Since this is built on the same line as the Corvette, 2012 to 2013 sounds right. Im breathing a sigh of relief as my '08 is only 3 weeks old.

Not me.
If that's the case (I sure hope not) then I'll suddenly become a preowned Corvette owner for the remainder of my life.

(fingers crossed) -- I, too, hope that the 60th Anniversary model is also the new C7, as that will be our next Vette purchase.

Frankly, GM benefits from all this conjecture. Anyone recall "displacement on demand for the '08 Corvette?" How about our "pal" 1k and his 450 hp from an insider?

GM does the best it can, but sometimes things just happen. Remember the '83 Corvette?

Thanks for the info tejas, but until it's announced by GM, it really is still just a good guess.

I went against him once and have now learned my lesson.

Also, with regard to the 60th anniversary......the 40th Anniversary was a C4 and came after the C4 had been in production for 9 years.

IMHO, by 2013, the majority of cars will be electric. And I don't need another vette if its not mid engined. I don't really care for the look of the C6, it looks kinda boring, but its fast, handles nice and is the best bang fror the buck.

The C6 looks boring? Ouch!

I dont know! 3.6 sec 0-60 mph is pretty quick for an electric car! By 2013 we may have a 2 sec 0-60 mph electric car! I would buy one.

You don't have to worry about it.
You might drive a Camry by Chevrolet, but
you'll never drive a Corvette by Toyota!!!
