Comments? Yes, I agree it is pure speculation.

I can't comment without an article to read. Too bad it's not on the web somewhere.

The car on the cover sports gills and the back end of a Ferrari...I actually kinda like. They talk about mid-engine..they talk about evolution, not revolution...They talk about following Porsche model strategy...they talk about how they should offer like 200 options like Porsche.

They ask the experts about it as well...Chip Foose says "The Corvette lineup should be split into 2 models. The base car should be a front engine convertible and the Z06, or whatever the top model is called, should be a mid-engine coupe"

A few experts say they need to get the younger buyers. Peter Brock, GM design 57-58 says "GM needs to entice and attract the younger buyers, right now it's too much or a retirement car".

They also show a lot of the previous concept cars...man they had a lot of ugly concepts. LOL

I don't know too many 30 to 40 year olds with families people who can afford a 911, Caymen, or GTR in addition to the two family sedans/SUVs. Not to mention the more expensive "sports" cars. Twenty year old ownership is sort of a anomaly.

Cadillac I feel would benefit from a mid engine or even front engine world beater priced in the mid to high $100, 000.

I agree 100% The main reason the Vette tends to be purchased by olders consumers is price. If Chevy really wants younger buyers, they got to drop the price to the 30's and when they do, the performance etc will change also due to cost cutting.

Remember, this is Motor Trend we're talking about. One year ago they had 'advanced information' on the '403HP' engine for the '08 Vette. Typically, they don't know what they're talking about.

The only part that wasn't total crap was a comment on cafe regs for 2020 I think. They stated that the minimum mpg was going to be 35 and that would seal the fate on the vette. I don't know if it's true or not, that was probably crap too on second thought.

Motor trend is the worst car mag, they keep soliciting me with cheap subscriptions rates, but even for free its not worth it.

Pure speculation...only to be taken for its entertainment value. There was nothing in the article that was truly informational save for the fact that there are different factions within GM trying to push the C7 in different directions...what's new?

MotorTrend IMO tends to lean toward Ford Products. So I don`t take any of there articles to heart.

Looks like they're trying to sell copies as opposed to providing accurate information. The mid engined Corvette rumors have been coming back around for decades. Not gonna happen. It doesn't fit the recipe for light, fast, nimble, servicable, plenty of room and comfort, and (relatively) affordable.

I've seen it and the cover car looks pretty good imo. A great evolution.

It looks like they took a lot C6, little C6 Z06 (scoop), added in a dash of XLR (rear arches, side mirrors, roof), a touch of Ferrari (front lights, gills), a smidge of Porsche (front turn sigs), a smadge of Mercedes SLK (rear wheel wells), and just a pinch of Supra (overall rake).
