It already did. As soon as it appeared the new CAFE legislation was going to pass last year, GM put the C7 project on hold. That is confirmed by several posters in this section.

Basically the demand for the Corvette will go up as they have to sell more hum drum cars before they can sell so many vettes. The dealer mark ups will probably start getting out of hand.

CAFE is Corporate Average Fuel Economy. I was under the impression that the Corvette could stay the same at 16-20 area, as long as Chevy Average 30 MPG across its production cars. so the little engines will get more efficient and you'll see aluminum blocks in the trucks for weight savings. basically little things that can bump up the "Fleet's Average" fuel economy.

Don't take this as accurate, this is just how I understood it.
