Hold on to your C5's

Monatary value is monatary value, and they dont have it nor horsepower. I like em, but part of it that just got worse was each year after the chrome bumpers, they just kept tacking on bigger and bigger body panels. I mean, what the heck is hiding under those giant, exaggerated fenders and front bumper? Yet the sides and back end are still pretty sleak like all the previous years. The whole front end looks like a body kit.
I will say this though. To say c2's and c3's are what "most" people associate is a huuuuuuuuuuuuuge exaggeration. Maybe anyone in their 40's+ thinks that. But I'm 23, and everyone from my generation that knows anything at all about cars knows the c5's and c6's, and knows the c4 is a corvette based on looks, but they probably wouldnt know what car you showed at first glance. The only reason you "think" that is what people think of when they think of corvettes, is cause you probably grew up with it. The c1-c3 are soon to be a distant memory, with only corvette faithful knowing what they were. Its nothing to be offended by, after all how many cars from 1940 can you name? I can rattle off some 70's and even 60's muscle cars, but I'm the exception for the most part. Almost all cars from the 50's-70's are gonna be forgotten soon except by serious enthusiasts.
I like your anniversary edition better then the 03's, but, an 04 LeManns edition z06 looks 10000000000000x better.

A quick read through the GM prospectus and business plan, and you get the general idea behind their car and truck designs. Unlike the truck line, where GM wants owners to upgrade to the latest generation, as well as steal the competition’s US market share of current Ford, Dodge, and Toyota owners, the corvette line has a different objective... far from its heritage of racing.
To put it simply, GM is no longer designing nor building the C7 for any of us. They are not looking to sell the new car to current corvette enthusiast. Why? You already have one, you’re hooked; mission accomplished. Furthermore I bet they are seeing increased sells in used C5s and C6s which they are hoping will translate into parts and service dollars at their dealerships.
Its a simple business strategy: Design another product using a successful and prestigious brand to attract a new market share.
The C7 is geared towards new customers. Most likely those who are looking for enhanced engine management out of a spirited drive train and very upscale taste, hence the Cadillac flavor you see in the new design. Also, they are trying to expand into international markets where they must compete with AMG Mercedes and the like, and believe me Germany is way out in front in this market, GM is trying to catch up. Using the Mercedes market share as an example, GM’s first attempt was putting the supercharged LSA (which is basically a LS9) in their Cadillac V series cars, to test the market; they also adopted styling ques from the Mercedes E and S series line for their v-series caddies. The market responded and GM snatched a few sales from Mercedes, now they are going after the AMG crowd with the C7.
Just my 2 cents. By the way, I’ll take all the “ugly” and “boring” vettes if you guys don’t want them.

Actually, I find this history fun!
"The Pirelli is gone.

The skinny rear tired heavy 599 burned its rear tire up competing with the ZR1. Ferrari had to be embarrassed! And that 599 really didn't have anything on the ZR1 in the looks department. Definitely plain!
