Any news on Timing for the C7?
Has GM confirmed yet if the C7 is a 2012 or 2013 model yet?

OMG, so the dealers that said it was already in production and available may be right???!!!! I am going down to the dealer and see if I can get a used one.
On the other hand it may never come out because the TEOWAWKI is occurring in December 2012 (end of the Mayan calendar for those not in the know). Just another ploy to get our hopes up.

They also went on to say (and pay careful attention as this is critical).......that we can expect the vehicle to have 4 tires, 2 doors and a steering wheel, but said not to hold them to that as this was still in the "engineering phase".

Here's a recent quote:
For engineers like Tadge Juechter, who has developed Corvettes for seventeen years, it doesn't get any better than a green light from the U.S. Department of the Treasury. "We began working on C7 last fall," the fifty-three-year-old chief engineer explained. "We haven't announced production timing, but past Corvettes required three to four years of engineering and development. So there will be several more years with the current body style before a new model arrives."

I got some further info from my unreliable source. They said despite the end of all humanity as we know it, on 12/12/12, they will continue production of the C7 on 12/13/12, business as usual. (We have to give GM props for that)

Sounds like Spring 2013 is the soonest we'll see the next Corvette. So we have another two model years of parts-bin mashups and paint-and-decal specials to look forward to. A slate of 60th Anniversary models with yet another variation of metallic red, unique seat stitching and fender badges should cover next year; and some kind of 4LT Commemorative Edition the year after that, maybe with an extra optional (profitable) package with snazzy blue and extra stripes and special wheels...
Though honestly, they've got to be running out of metallic reds and blues and ways to arrange stripes.
Of course, what we won't get in the next three years are fixes to any of the interior shortcomings, but that can't be helped.
Personally I'd like to see Precision Red again, but I suspect I'm one of about three people...

I would like to see the following on the C7:
- Dual clutch transmission
- optional racing seats/roll bar
- big brake similar to Z51
- a real name for the Z06 instead of a silly option code--why not Grand Sport for the track model?
- enough head room for tall guys with a helmet
