Default GM, Please redesign the rear end on the C7

I don't know if I'm the only c6 owner that hates the rear end of this car, but I sure hope GM does something a little more tasteful with the C7. The flat *** on the C6 sure leaves a lot to be desired and just seems so plain looking from the rear. That huge flat section just is not appealing to me at all. It needs some curves or shape to it and the rear end has gotten way too big. And personally, I would like to see the pop up headlights brought back as well.

Flat? That thing has curves every which way. Seriously, there isn't a flat surface anywhere on that butt except for the license plate space.

GM, please do not listen to Fred H. and carry on with the flat rear end & fixed headlamps.

No offense Fred btw

Actually GM, please build the Stingray concept from Transformers, but please fix the front and rear of the car and make it more appealing to those of us who will probably buy it. Also, please make it more powerful than the LS3 w/o sacrificing cubic inches or fuel economy. While we are at it, please make the interior much better and lets keep the price around what the current car is, or less.

The pop-up headlights are not returning. I don't believe they will fit with the European safety regulations. They are dead and gone, get over it.

The "flat" backend, is not as others have pointed out. Also it serves significant aerodynamic purposes. It will likely stay in some form.

The high, "flat" rear end delivers low lift and decent drag without the the need for a rear wing. If you want to see what can happen with a "curvy" rear end, just check out the original Audi TT which used to fall off the road on fast curves until Audi retro-fitted a wing. It's also why you'll see fancy self-raising wings on the rear of most modern Porsches.

Pop-ups:. Older members with a sentimental attachment to them need to take a step back, and imagine how they would look from an objective, modern perspective. It's an outdated technology, and every other automaker has abandoned them (Right? ). They served their purpose, during their time. But it's long since time to move on, as the C6 indeed did. Let's not go backwards now. :P

Just look at the Prius. It's shaped like that for a reason. It too has somewhat of a flat back, and abrupt edge/spoiler.

I could see a retro-styled sports car affecting popups -- something small and wedgy perhaps -- but not Corvette. Corvettes draw inspiration from their past but they remain inherently modern.

I suppose it's possible to come up with a modern rendition of popups, but in Corvette's case I don't think they'll ever get past the concept sketch or perhaps an outre-retro show car. They're a packaging and reliability and cost problem.

I really like hidden headlamps, and I still strongly dislike C6's uninspired bug-eyes, but I know GM's never going back. I just hope they'll throw the C6 design out and not limit C7 to some evolutionary design for continuity or identity's sake.

Audi had some problems because the back end was lifting up at speed.

The rear is built for the aerodynamic advantage. Remember the Datona Coupe design.................

Looks like a puzzled/getting ready to be angry kid with down syndrome. All the back ends on vettes are pretty good, C5 is a little off.

+1 Find a nice C4 and make it your own. The back 3/4 view is my favorite part of my C6Z.

And pop up lights? WOW, lets talk about 1984.

Agreed. If you want a flat butt then there are plenty of 1984 to 1990 Vettes with flat butts like my 86. You can get a more evocative design with todays headlight design that can give the Vette a new face. hPop headlights are too heavy, complicated, and troublesome to ever come back in this era of ever stricter CAFE regulations. Don't get me wrong, I like pop headlights, thats why I own an 85 and 93 Trans Am in addition to my 86 Vette, but that era is long gone. Hell even the supercars don't use them anymore. I think GM did a great job with the C6 given their limitations.

I think the C6 is by far the best looking Vette yet. My belief is the C7 will be a slightly downsized version of the C6 but with some new angles but still reminiscent of the C6. I doubt it will be a radical departure. But pop up headlight? Yikes, they are downright embarrassing, especially when they are up, and belong back in the 70's and 80's. They are the main reason I sold my C5.
