Dear stingraymyway,
The new NSX with all its gadgetry will probably match current z06 performance, while stickering dangerously close to $200,000 dollars(and may God have mercy on your soul with repairs). Thereby loosing to corvette in bang for the buck, while not stealing any sales away from "the rich bloods" because well... because of what it is.

GM would be delighted if the NSX was the only competitor they had to worry about. The bigger marketing challenge is protecting the relatively high volume ~$50K segment while still having the "exclusivity" to sell Corvettes at $140K.

If you want to spend $200k on a car, there are (will be) lots of others beyond the NSX to choose from. The Corvette will not be one of them unless they come out with that new AWD version of the ZR1 I anticipate.

I don't understand the comparison with the new NSX.
I just can't understand why a corvette owner would want a new NSX design wise. It is a completely different car.
And although this is personal, it looks just bad. The first gen NSX ok, but this new thing looks like an R8 or even the Peugoet sportscar.
Corvettes have a long hood, seat way back around the back wheels, the new NSX is the total opposite.
The New Jaguar could be competition when it comes to looks, but it'll probably be quite a bit more expensive ...

C7 needs enough "wow factor" to sell 25,000 $55K-$70K coupes and convertibles a year.
Try to set aside the hyperbole and the butt-hurt for just a moment and be honest. With a new skin and a new interior and a new motor -- any new skin, new interior, and new motor that gets through the GM and Corvette development process -- they're going to have that for three model years, easy.

The Op has lots of angst about nothing! And........the NSX has no "WOW" factor for me!

The Corvette has nothing to fear from the NSX. It needs to be on the lookout for its old rivals, the 911, GT500 and GTR. The only dark horse next year is going to be what Fiat do to the Viper-if it comes back with a nice Italian interior and its old American lunacy, it's going to draw a lot of people away from the Corvette.
