GM Chairman Akerson Comments on “Top Secret, Revamped” C7 Corvette
#21
Ultimately, it was very basic interview and Akerson barely mentioned the C7. He just wanted to make sure it was mentioned and didn't give anything away, just as he should. That is what guys like that are taught to do. Keep it all vague, and diss anything published thus far. It's called managing expectations.
Next year will be the big campaign, and it will be big.
I'll say it again, we have not seen anything like the real C7 yet. GM is playing Jalopnik, the spy shooters, and us all so far, especially about the look.

I don't care what they do with the C7, as long as they change that ugly *** joke of a rear end that is shown in the J rendering and appears to be on the camo car.

As do many, I have low expectations, but high hopes for the C7. I think it's the best one can do at this point, Buick and Cadillac efforts notwithstanding.

I'm thinking about going on to some of the BMW boards and trolling over there for a while, we seem to have way too many BMW/Porsche 'nut swingers' doing the very same over here so why not?
....and the new Impala, and the Cruze, and the trucks etc. etc.

"New and Improved" same ole marketing crap. They say that about everything, from corvettes to corn flakes, to toilet paper.
Just another tweak of Dave Hills design. C5, C5.5, C5.6
oh well, we'll know in 6,7 months. if its marketing hype or actually has some substance.

Hey the toilet paper one is important, especially for my old ***. lol

My expectation is ultimately a clean looking C7. Jalopnik has a lot of jagged elements, especially in the rear. Hard to imagine GM releasing something like that; as has been said ad nauseum, the devil is in the details.
Renderings usually seem to take design characteristics to an extreme that often don't appear in production.
Still playing the waiting game

I had a high level GM official at a car show late last year, right after the Jalopnik renderings became public, tell my friend and I just that.
His exact words were that the Jalopnik car looks like the C6, and the C7 doesn't look like the C6.
This guy is very well known in the Chevy car enthusiast circle and he doesn't BS or spread misinformation. Even though the camouflaged C7's appear to resemble the Jalopnik car, I'm going to "keep the faith"

The thing that bothers me is, why would GM go through all the trouble of putting a totally fake body on a mule to fool people. And say what you will, that camo car looks very much like the J rendering.
I have all the C6 spy pics and they have never done this. Why now? And yes, I know they have put past generation bodies on newer chassis. The camo car is obviously not that.

Yes, that is exactly what I was talking about. Putting a previous generation body on a new platform. Well current generation, but you know what I mean

I thought you were talking about the more recent basic black camouflaged/zebra striped spy photos.
They're certainly trying to hide somethin'.

When the C7 is introduced some here will say it looks like the Jalopnik drawings and others will say they don't look the same at all. Both will claim they are right, the other is wrong, and they will argue for weeks.

Most CEO's aren't car guys. Get an interview with the Chief Corvette Engineer and I'd bet the enthusiasm is a little different. I'm kinda new to whole Vette thing, is there always a "sky it falling" attitude when a new Vette is around the corner?
#40
Yes, the "sky is falling" theme plays out here all the time, no matter what the thread is about. Some folks, be they Vette owners or not, just like to turn a meaningless discussion into a drama-filled argument.
