Should GM leak a photo?
Should GM take a chance and leak a photo or two to judge consumer reaction? Since the C7 will be around for a while, wouldn't it be prudent for GM to be able to determine the strengths and weaknesses of the C7 design while there is still some opportunity to make a change or two?

I'd rather they leaked other significant information in a series of well written, high quality videos that make the rounds on YouTube, blogs, forums, etc. where GM controls the message. These would differentiate the C7 from the C6 and the competition to show what will make the C7 unique and new. They need to pound home the power, innovation, history, and value of the brand going forward.

No, it's too early. If they were to show the C7 now, people would become bored of it by the time the release day comes around. They need to keep it a secret for as long as they possibly can in my opinion. They have done a fine job thus far.

That, and if it was a knockout they would sell far less C6s this year.

It's too early because they can't afford to poison C6 sales with anything specific that prompts people already thinking about buying a Corvette to back off.
Think of all the C6s already on dealer lots, and the manufacturing infrastructure that needs to keep running through December, and the fact that C7 won't be ready to be delivered to customers for at least a year.
And it's too late because C7 design has to be locked in already.
And as BlueOx points out, if they wanted feedback, they'd do it in a much quieter and more controlled fashion. You can be sure that they've already done that.

Only if it was shrouded in shadows and weird angles and backgrounds so you couldn't really get a sense of what it actually looked like.
I.e. only purpose would be to keep the fire of speculation stoked.
But not actually show it.

Although I hate to use the words "rearend" and "leaks" in the same sentence, I hope The General leaks some pics of the C7 rearend.
It will help me decide to get a 427 Vert, or wait for the C7.

I think that will actually happen in time, much like the renowned Camaro ZL1 videos that were quite prevalent prior to it's actual release (and still running in some ads even now as well).

I don't envy you.

We really don't know when the C7 design will be actually revealed, although we do know the "official" date. It will likely be leaked sufficiently enough way before the official date.

Just because you weren't asked to comment on the design, doesn't mean they didn't get a lot of input.
GM would be foolish to leak anything substantial on the C7 with so much time left to sell remaining C6. Once people get a look at the C7, dealers will be forced to sell off any remaining C6 at fire sale prices just to clear the stock.
Don't worry, there will be plenty of C7 hype once GM cuts off C6 production.
Cheers,
JB
