What are you talking about? They look 100% identical according to some people on this thread. No changes whatsoever.
Cars getting uglier or better looking over a period of time is subjective. I personally don't like the older cars over the newer cars, but I'm younger than most of you guys and I definitely didn't grow up with the older cars. I grew up with the newer cars. When I was born the last of the C3s were out. So the C4 was the Vette from my era. The C5 naturally is the best looking Vette to me.
No different from music and other things. It's subjective. Kids today love the crap that comes out today, but I bet you guys don't. I hate most music the industry pumps out these days. But I feel that's because I grew up with a completely different type of music.
Either way, my point is that ugly or not is subjective.
All cars get uglier as they evolve. It's a result of material costs and manufacturing processes. When cars were being built in low volume by hand it was much easier to create an elegant sculptural form. You still get that with some modern day supercars, but it's the production volume that dictates the manufacturing processes.

Think I read somewhere that the C7 will just be an upgraded C6 with a new interior and electronics plus some new body parts. The next complete makeover will be the C8.
I can buy into this because I love my GS and only wish the electronics were from this centuary.
Either way, we are getting closer to seeing the real thing.

But then again I certainly don't believe EVERYTHING that I read either.

No offense to the corvette owners that have had the C5's but hands down the C6 has a very strong presence on the road. The Grand Sports, Z's, and Zr1's look badass! To say they look the same as previous gen's is absurd...Its gonna be hard for GM to top the looks of the C6.

Hopefully GM doesn't do what they did with the C6 though. The C6 Z06 and ZR1 lost their lackluster when GM decided to put the wide body panels on the base C6 and call it a GS. While I would still rather have the Z06 of all of the C6s, the price difference between the GS and Z06 isn't enough and the visual difference isn't enough. They've taken away from the Z06.
The C5Z's look is classic and really can't be taken away by any Vettes, even the 99-00 FRCs. (Even though I'd like to have an FRC as well.)
If GM has a billion trim packages again for the Corvette, the higher end model sales will suffer.

Of course, Porsche is anti-style in general but they keep moving forward.
And I suspect GM came out ahead on the GrandSport. They used the Z06 look to increase the price (and surely profit) on half the base car sales. I think GM will tell you the Z06 is a performance upgrade, not an appearance package The ZR1 probably did more damage to Z06 simply by usurping the top spot.
And I doubt they planned it that way. They just couldn't resist the demand.
I'd actually like to see the next Z06/ZR1 be a lot more subtly distinguished from the base model. But I find the afterthought-flared fender look tacky. I guess it's a preference for supercar over race car.

To be fair, that was comparing a regular c5 with the crappy wagon wheels against a special edition z06. Take a look at some of the custom c5 rides people have, and they look considerably different(and far better). A set of wheels, lowering, and tint really does the c5 justice.

A lowered C5Z with aftermarket wheels can look REALLY good.
