Good point.

I am so excited after hearing Lutz on Autoline . This guy is a car loving maniac and he says the C7 is radically different ! I really did not expect that at all and this is right from the guy who absolutely has seen the car.

Bob Lutz is a former GM Executive. The C7 production design probably needed and got his signature. What do you think he's going to say about it, that it's an evolutionary update with one-piece taillights?

He could have just said the car is gorgeous and that would have worked but he used the terms " radically different ".

Right. He said radically different. Just like cellular carriers crow about coverage and speed. And Chrysler ran a TV spot that portrayed the Sebring as a beautiful car.

"Radically different" could mean that it simply looks radically different from a Chevrolet Suburban, Buick Regal or even Ford Mustang...but it could still look exactly like a C6 LOL.
I don't think that's what he'd meant of course but just sayin', ya can't always take people's words literally.

26.5 horsepower. What other car do you know about that rated their engine's horsepower down to the half horse? The 1946 sedan I had during college would hit 60 MPH, stopping it was a different matter.

They could shed an easy 32 pounds if they just took it to the equator and weighed it.

What cracks me up is how manufactures claim the next generation car will be lighter and in the end, they are heavier. An example is the 370Z. Of the C7 stays under 3300lbs I would consider it a victory.

Losing weight is the most expensive way of improving performance. Just give me evolutionary looks with decent performance gains over the c6, and I'll me happy. GM doesn't want to run out of room for future improvements by shooting the works on new generations. besides, who among us wants to pay $200k for a vette anyway?

I find the focus on weight to be interesting in these discussions, some are talking <3,000 Lbs. One must remember that cars that were that weight in the past were either purpose built sport cars or lighter just because the government hadn't imposed wider "A" pillars etc. for safety. You won't find navigation systems, crumple zones, power anything, plush carpeting, door handles etc. in some of the old cars. I don't anticipate the new vette to have much more HP than the current cars, I think they may be slightly lighter 100-200 Lbs tops, but much improved in the interior design and quality which many people have complained about for a long time. Exterior wise I hope we are all pleasantly surprised, time will tell.

I firmly believe that the base car will come in at under 3300 pounds, very likely under 3200 pounds as well.

No, Jalopnik has already told, if you haven't seen it by now
