I'm sorry, did we all miss the part, yet again, that its a 9 and 10 speed AUTO? Thus thread title is a lie?

Yup. Just keep ignoring that. It's clearly no longer relevant to the discussion.

Would non-runflats work better with that 10 speed?

ONLY if the tail lights are of the proper size and shape. According to what I have read here if the lights don't look right nothing else really matters.

For dottling around town, and when speed is of little importance::
You could just skip every other gear: 1-3-5-7-9 or 2-4-6-8-10
You could skip 2 gears when changing: 1-4-7-10

I often skip gears in the M6. Pop it out of 6th down into 3rd (or 4th depending on current speed and desired speed). Run it up in 1st, drop it into 3rd (or 4th)....

There is no real reason to row the box off a race track.

I would think that the top gear will be almost useless unless cruising at freeway speed on mostly level ground, and the next gear gear down will be very close to that. We have 6 gears now and if this is all about gas mileage I'd expect several overdrives above what we currently have.
But then again.............
