Thanks Ox for the pic..
When the Datsun Z came out in late 1969 my old man had to bribe the Nissan reps to get Z's or they would give more cars to the dealers that did. It was actually a straight forward transaction at the time. I remember a paper taped to the wall in the showroom with a list of people waiting for the Zs. We would put stripes , wheels, better radios, anything on the cars to justify a higher profit margin.
I am not saying that ( bribing ) happens today but the BS continues in other forms. There are dealers that have seen the entire C7 and some have not. Anyone know a GM dealer rep? Just ask them the same question and they will tell you.

6 months ago or more, all different dealers were saying they had seen it, and they all described it differently. Know what that indicates to me? None of them saw it, and they just trying to suck customers in. We were told by some head honcho recently, that the cars we have been seeing, along with the Jalop drawing, weren't the c7. The camo cars have continued to be almost identical. Know what that indicates to me? Again, more lies. They are all trying to hype this car up, while keeping wraps on it. Anything we know, we weren't supposed to. If there's a lot of political BS still going on, then why would you trust what anybody associated with GM would say?
You're comparing business practices from the 60's and 70's to today. That's a bit of a stretch in most respects. People have access to far more information then they did back then ahead of time. Dealers don't have consumers by the ***** as long as they are educated.

I just don't see this GM / C7 / Chevrolet dealer stuff as a conspiracy .
It just not that big a deal to any of these characters.
Some of us see this as exciting and mysterious...it is all good , so to speak.
As for a select few dealers seeing the car ...That is still true.

I followed a LFA about a month ago - incredible F1 like sound .
I just don't care for the styling but all of my children love it.

Comparing the LFA to the ZR1 is like comparing a cigarette boat to a monster truck. Each is a wild ride, and neither is a good substitute for the other.

Pomp, circunstance, and creating demand.
Who would be really excitied and ready to drop $$$ on a design that had been thoroughly hashed and photographed for the last 2 years.
Especially if the upgrade in performance was only modest.

I wouldn't mind if it looks a bit more like some Ferrari models. In the end for performance many of these cars are going to have to move towards similar designs to get high performance.
I'm struck by how much more and more carbon fiber is being used with it's relatively high strength to weight ratios. Spensive stuff!
I like the black photo of one I have seen with a very different nose from past Vettes. they all gotta get through the same wind tunnel. My old 76 you sit just in front of the rear wheels. Some rear or mid engine Ferraries like the new F70 you sit well forward of the engine and rear wheels. Each sure has a different feel when you drive them with some oomph around corners, etc.
